NY chicken lover!!!!

This is her..

The red light stinks but she is black and white. You can see the one foot is like curled up. Has anyone seen anything like this? Does she stand a chance?

I know some people have had luck splinting splayed feet, but I don't know anything about chicks myself and don't know if that includes (splinting) a curled foot. Hope someone can help, and I do hope your little "Solo" chick is a toughie. She must be to have been the sole survivor of the hatch.

County Boy,

Is this Peanut Butter? I think he is by far my favorite! As always, your bird pictures are absolute eye candy.

Mderby - I know I've read things on this site about chicks with curled feet. You may want to try posting a question on another thread or start your own, I'm sure you'll get the advice you need if you can't find it here.

Rancher - this has been the color difference in my orpington's eggs since my Silkie roo got a hold of her. As you can see they're much lighter than the rest of the brown eggs I usually get....

I'm sorry I know nothing of hatching babies, though I can say I love your exit "x mi NORTH to Mexico" ... Love may save your baby, and it may only exercise your love.
This is the line I used to convince my husband to let me get ducks! I'm only getting 3 tho, 2 ducks and drake.
My family is mostly in Sweden and The Netherlands. We are all farmers, and bakers. I honestly feel out of place having not farm for so long. Duck eggs are so rich and fatty/creamy and make the best of cakes and pastry. They also make a great layer for a rich breakfast pot with potatoes and veggies. I am very excited to have them!

I've heard people will set the foot in the proper position with band aids or wrap it to their body for a couple days and they'll often straighten out with a little assistance. It is a little cramped in that shell!! Ha

What about using VetRap to wrap it? You could wrap it using thin strips so that the toes are in the proper placement. Look at vids for bumblefoot surgery to see how to wrap it between the toes.
