That is an exceptional thing to be guilty of!! Wear that perv hat proudly, I'm certain every wife wants a husband like that.
She is very pretty and I am certain a wonderful lady for the simple fact that she has to, at the very least, tolerate the whole chicken thing.
congrats. Sadly I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted to this weeknd seems like always something needs done different or have to go get something else. So I only have 4 walls done and 1 sheet of plywood on roof wanted all sheets but kids take a lot of our time while building. Wife was like can they fly out of the coop? Can't they stay out there with a partial roof? She's itching to get these out but yet when I wanted to keep working at 6ish she wanted to go into house so we stoped like 630.First night for the chicks outside! I had a pain getting the door on the shed but it's on now!
Also got egg number 2 tonight!
Haha! That is like the reverse of myself and my husband. He wanted the ducklings... I care for them clean etc... but they are his..she has learned to love them and has her favorite roosters. The ducks are hers. Well I care for them, clean up after them etc, but they are hers![]()
Breella: any news about the horse?
And does anyone know, is it safe to use a colored zip-tie on the leg of a hen to distinguish between ages? Or is there something else to use for this purpose?
I have done it. hmmm.... mixed results actually. Some of them came off before I wanted them to. One of them got inbedded in the chicks leg because it grew so fast and I didn't notice it was getting tight. I think the hardest part was cutting it off the leg when it got tight. I was terrified of hurting the chick with the scissors or breaking it's leg holding it still.Blondie has finally stuck to just one nest now being broody. I think she only has 3 eggs under her but I'm not sure.
I think I will do some rearranging in my flock as to my breeds. Right now I have 12 Black Australorps... 11 hatchery and 1 from a nearby breeder. You can definitely tell the difference. My farm raised girl is sturdier. I also have the 1 Buff Orpington, from the same breeder. Then I have 7 production/red sex links and 7 tetra tints from last year. My 7 week olds, I have 1 Amberlink (which we will keep, as she is my daughter's rescued "Pancake"), 2 tetra tints and 12 red sex links. 3 week olds, I have 18 tetra tints.
I have a select few that I will want to keep, but otherwise, I want to sell off many that I have, and get more BA's and BO's from the breeder. I hate to be stuck with many hens that have stopped laying after 2 years. I also want them to be able to replenish their own flock.
I'm sure getting rid of hens and pullets will be easy enough on CL.
