Hi, That is tough .. did you have therapy after ? My therapist said when you have a injury that doesnt move for a while your brain forgets how to move it . Therapy helps it remember ..
My therapy was in the water ..one of the things they worked on was balance
I broke my ankle in 3 places about 5 years ago ..everyone in a while I still loose my balance ...for a second

Ahhhh I just lost power again!!! And this time it's affecting my job! Ugh! Yesterday I got lucky and it was out during my break (I work a split shift) but now I'm back online working my 5-8 shift and I'm out of power. Just lovely! I was going to upload a bunch of pics too of the ducklings! :-( we took them outside today, they had a ball out there! Man are they fast too! Here's a pic from my phone....

And the lazy ladies of the day...
What are they? And don't say "ducklings".. They are SO cute (even cuter outside where they can poop on the grass). Don't they grow SO FAST? Doesn't it seem like yesterday they would fit in your palm, then next week they are more than two handfuls.
Gonna take the babies out today for some grass and get them out the brooder. And then be super super super lazy tonight and I guess do some homework ugh. Work was good shaved a big fat matted cat! Hope everyone had a great day and may your evening be well!!
Are you doing that stupid nurse thing too? I know somebody on this thread is. (me too). I chose against homework tonight.

Babies enjoying some outside time.

you can't eat my flowers hahahahahahaha!

Have a great night everyone.
Oh my goodness they are so tiny! What wonderful colors they are!

Morning all,

Got up early between the rooster and the nightmare couldn't sleep.

I've had this type of dream before. Where I'm in the car and it's speeding and I can't stop it. In this case racing going backwards down the road trying to slow it down to put it in forward.

A rooster was crowing awfully loud. Got up and went to let the out to find the Maran rooster in the yard crowing his head off. Seems I forgot to or didn't latch their coop last night. I expect I was just so frustrated to find a dead chick on the floor when I was closing up and another squashed chick under a hen I forgot. I've got two hens and neither is doing well hatching.

Then I had to put one down that I think got injured by Mario or Luigi who get into the coop. They will no longer be let out in the yard, as they've injured young birds before. I'm seriously considering giving up the orps. Mario and Luigi are nice English type. Pretty soon as these chicks start growing it will get crowded. I just can't sex the EE's yet and some need to grow out before I decide who to keep.

Then there is my poor Nick. I know he's at the end of the line. Can't hardly walk and getting beat up by George my other Del roo. The one character I hate about chickens is that they'll kick you when your down. Nick is my avatar. I've had him since the beginning. He must be more than 5 years old.

Saw three bunnies in my garden among the garlic yesterday. I was watering some and scared them. One went butt over apple cart trying to get away. It was so funny. The other two took off. It was funny cuz here was this little brown butt sticking out of the hay trying to hide. I tell ya these rabbits have gotten to darn comfortable around here.

Worked some yesterday to complete the fencing around my back garden to keep the chickens out. Cutting small trees and building a rustic gate. Those zip ties come in handy. It's not great but it will do. I will have to modify it some to keep the big rabbits out. Marking doesn't deter them.

Lynzi, what beautiful pics. Miquwid too.

I might take you up on your offer but I may have a BR broody hen and really I'm maxed out.

Don't want to turn on the TV cuz DW is sleeping in.

Well folks lets hope for a good day.

They are Khaki Campbells and yes I cannot get over how fast they are growing. I guess I spoke too soon when I picked them up at the feed store and said "wow, I can't believe how tiny they are! Thought they'd be bigger" I HAVE to get working on that house for th before they start popping their heads up above the brooder walls! Lol

Thanks Rancher! I'm going to try to get around to uploading the better pics from my camera today, those were from my phone since I was without power last night for 3hrs! Figures it was the only 3hrs of my evening I had to be working. Owell.

Speaking of dreams, the one I have over and over is of me going shopping at a mall or where ever, I vividly remember parking my car, walking in, but when I come out from shopping my car is GONE! And I panic, not so much because I don't know how I'm going to get home but because my car has been stolen and I don't know if I'll ever see it again. LOL I can't even tell you how many times I've had this dream, I have to look it up because it must mean something.

Good Morning Everyone!
Been a bit of a lurker lately but I had some questions for some of our CNY peeps. I had a hawk attack. I lost one of my two EE's and I'm nursing a Red back to health - she had a smaller puncture on her side, has trouble walking but she's eating and drinking and standing up favoring the other leg. I have her in a kitty crate to limit her mobility so perhaps she can heal. The wound is scabbing and she's alert so I have hope. My babies are about 11-12 weeks old.

My EE we were forced to put down ourselves as she was in so much pain and her side was torn apart.. it wasn't fixable.

So here's my question.

I have their coop under a HUGE line of Maples, the overhang covers everything including their run making it near impossible to see anything from above (Of COURSE the hawks went to the other side of the property and came in at an angle). We will be putting up wires crisscrossing from the coop to the run poles in hopes of decapitating any that fly in (and I'm seriously considering a pellet gun - closest thing to a firearm that I'll allow in my house. Even hubby doesn't think he can shoot a hawk with his bow lol..). Has anyone had success with other methods? I don't want wire mesh over the top as we have 4 foot posts and getting in would be painful on our backs. Other than deer netting (which we will also be getting) has anyone had any luck in deterring hawks in the area? I've got a bird preserve like 2 miles away so the population is slightly overwhelming. Counted 12 circling the fields around us last week. Any tricks I can use? We were devastated by this attack and would really like to prevent another if at all possible. THe ladies have been in their coop for 3 days in hopes that the hawks won't see a meal anymore and go back to circling fields.

ANY advice is appreciated and I do know that this is part of raising chickens, to deal with predators. I think it bothered me so much b/c it was such a waste of life, I probably would have felt better if the hawk had taken the chicken with it so I knew it had gotten a full meal.
