That reminds me the windows on the coop are open. I wasn't worried about the temps as they aren't that low. It's to late now to fret over it. It does need cleaning though and I did just buy a new bag of DE.
Morning All,
We had quite the drop in temperature last night. Had the AC on upstairs for the kids and in our bedroom, woke up this morning and it was colder in my kitchen/living room than it was in the bedrooms with the AC on! Got worried about the ducklings since they've been in their coop without a heat lamp, they seem to be doing just fine.

Glad to hear of everyone's hatches! I think I'm going to try making my own incubator and see if I can hatch out some of these silkie eggs. My son has been wanting to do an "experiment" and this will be one indeed! LOL
I do have one I got from Marquisella that just sits around all day, but she's not sitting on eggs, nor is she laying, nor does she stay in one spot. She'll lay up in the coop, down in the run, on the ladder. She's an odd duck that one! LOL I think I'll place the eggs in one of the nestboxes of that coop and see if at least one of them will sit on them.
Sorry to hear about your hen.Soooo cute! I hope I can get my broody to hatch some. I just lost a hen last nightI went out to close up the coop, had a look around and one of my red sexlinks was dead under the coop...I have NO idea what happened. I looked over over and there were no visible signs of injury, just a bunch of feathers scattered around. I think she got into it with the roo and maybe broke her neck? She was very healthy otherwise (at least visibly) and she was acting fine....ugh what do you guys do with the bodies of your birds?
I would but I don't have a vehicle at the moment. My husband was giving tractor rides on the new john deer with the kids the other night and a rock flew up and hit his driver side window. I've been without a car for two days now since he is driving mine. I'm nervous about driving that car until the window is fixed. I think the only thing holding the shattered glass in place is the tint. They're suposed to be out today to fix it. Hopefully sooner than later so I can pick up my son from school and my husband doesn't have to leave work to come out all way back home and back out to the restaurant.
Chickens seemed fine some alittle wet. I don't have pics of windows but the one that I wasn't really worried about was on back wall of coop. Roof over hangs like 12 or 18 inch I cant remember and the window is 8ft wide and 2 feet high. back wall is like 6 ft and I only put one piece of 4x8 plywood on that one part. i'll get picks this weeknd.
