NY chicken lover!!!!

I use cayenne pepper flakes as a preventive for worms. I know others have used it to treat worms.  Natural

Interesting.  Never heard of using cayenne pepper.  I feed dry crumbles.  How much would I add?

I don't measure just toss them in there and mix it up. If I can't see any I add some more. I mix it so every spoonful has some visible. Since you feed dry perhaps you could moisten some food to add it to or in some yogurt so when they eat it they eat the peppers. Or even in scrambled eggs. I would think sprinkling it on dry pellets it would just end up on the bottom of the feeder.

So I'm not sure if I mentioned but I took the run I made off the duck house and replaced it (for now) with a wire pen that I had bought the rabbits last summer. Figured this would give them more room to run around, plus I can move it around easily to different spots around their coop so they're not marking up one part of the lawn every day.

Loved this idea and it's been working out great! Until today.....Today of all days! it's pouring rain out there and one of them escapes! Not that it went far, but I wanted to catch it and place it back in the pen. Well imagine my son and I out in the pouring rain trying to catch a single duck who is running around our yard so quickly we can't catch him. I decided it would be better to get the others in the coop, shut the door, and then leave one panel open to the pen so it would run back into it. Got him (or her) in, closed the pen back up, couldn't really tell where it excaped thru but thought it was all set. Nope! He escapes again! This time I'm on my own, I go out there with this little kid umbrella, this time he's running ALL over the yard - across the driveway, under the porch, thru my patio, I'm sure the umbrella was freaking him out but it was down pouring out there. I wasn't about to soaked AGAIN chasing this little bugger down. Finally got him, locked them up in the coop. They've had enough time outside anyway!

lmao. Thats the reason the wife wont let the chickens out of coop when i'm at work. So untill i change shifts they only get a few hours a week outside. Hopeing i go to third so they get out more. Trying to train wife and kids how to work together and round them up easier. Mind you i'm trying to teach them when it's middle of day so most want out except my roo. The roo and light sussex i have just dont want to get out of coop they dont get on the roost bars. The light sussex i have to litterly push out of the door or pick up and place outside.

Edit: Oh forgot to ask anyone Breed barred plymouth rocks? Looking for some eggs soon going to get an incubator and i want some of that breed for easy sexing of EE's.

Mine are out from 7:30am until dusk - thats IF I can get them in the coop. I usually wait until they're ready and then go lock the door. But if I have to leave I leave. My birds are always out regardless of whether or not I'm home. (I work from home so I am usually home 90% of the time.) But I dont get them back in their coops or anything when I have to run out to the store or go pick up my son. The silkies - they've been kept in their coop because the two won't get along if they're both out together. But the bigger girls, always. Even today in the pouring rain! They looked like wet dogs out there!

same here. I open doors and close doors. They are out all day long

Love the pic stony!

Okay...so egg salad and hard boiled eggs are off my list and scrambled eggs with cheese only once a week. My allergic reactions are killing me. Thank goodness for childrens liquid benedryl. The rain has made it here so everyone stays locked up. They didnt want to come out from under their coops anyways until they saw me with a big bowl of scrambled eggs. Then it was madness and chaos! All four pens got a good amount so they shouldnt be too mad that they are in for the next day or two (depending on the rain). I did manage to get housekeeping done on all the coops and freshened up the silkie coops (the broodies growled to let me know I was too close) and filled up all feeders and waterers. It can rain all it wants now. Finally got the rose of sharon bushes in. Yes, they were still alive and growing in the plastic bag! Almost broke my arm and foot digging a hole in our clay deep enough to drop them in. I guess if they can survive 3 weeks in a target bag they can survive anything! Cleaned up the small cages and the brooder cage so its ready to fold up. I have to wait for dh to take down his cage cover he made.

Heres hoping we dont get any flooding anywhere and neither do you!

I know the chick isn't out of the woods yet, but if it survives the hatch anyone around Syracuse want to sell (or give) me 2-3 chicks so this one isn't alone? I don't care what breeds.

When is it due to hatch? I'd give you one or two of mine but They're not due for another week.
