NY chicken lover!!!!

Anyone else have a dog that is terrified of thunder, fireworks, etc. My younger pit-cross is just beside himself scared. He is hiding under my son's bed now. We turn on an empty humidifier just to make a little white noise, but he can hear the big bangs of the fireworks anyway. I feel sorry for him, but nothing we do helps.

Someone (maybe on Facebook, can't remember) had said the thunder shirt worked well for their dog. I'd say ask the vet... they would know!

I will have to check out our Country Maxx. It's a couple more miles down the road, but layer feed at TSC is $15 and change. The Purina Flock Raiser was $18 and change (both for 50# bags)! And I have 25 or 27 pullets that I'm feeding but aren't laying yet. A 50# bag lasts me 4 days, give or take.

Agway website has a coupon for $5 off a bag! Sometimes my printer will let me print 2-3 coupons at a time!

Well i'm a happy panda. I was a sad panda today when I candled a few times and saw no movement. I broke into the bator again just a few min ago cause I wasn't happy with what I saw earlier. (like I could change it) Well I flipped my box upside down so I could candle from the air cell side, I've been going from bottom with not best of luck. Well going from top I saw movement in like 4 eggs out of the 7 but 1-2 are smaller eggs and harder to see into. Now I need to mound this box to the wall so I can just slide eggs under it and let the table and towl hold the eggs so I don't have to. Now I wont open the bator till I get chicks or maybe sun/mon to candle, since sat is day 21.

I see the Cortland CountryMax carries the thunder shirts now, at least in terrier size. My mom had a border collie that was terrified of thunder storms. She would climb in the tub to hide. If she was outside, she would fight to get in the house, scratching the door and chewing the siding off. If she couldn't get in, she would run away. Once found her 2 weeks later 15 miles away.

I had a young coonhound that was terrified of storms & thunder. She used to get into the smallest place possible & shake & pant til the storm was over. She was crate trained. When her behavior would change, telling me a storm was on the way. I put her in her crate ( the safest place for her )and cover it with a dark colored sheet. It helped her feel more secure, she was still stressed, but not as bad AND she was safe. I would also place a fan in front of the crate so she had good air circulation and the noise from the fan helped cover the thunder.

I've never used a thunder shirt. My "dog" friends use them and say they help. Good luck with your pupper.
