You could try it ...( DA ) Boiling water down the hole should be a easy fix ..
The key is you want to make it so they dont like it there & move

Ants have really stinky feet ....so everyone else can follow their trail . so you probably have little ant trails all over your house
I would recommend mopping floors with ammonia & water (Can add a drop of dish soap if you like bubbly water ) to get rid of their trails .
If you have never used ammonia ...Have lots of windows open ...Draw your hot water 1st ...then add the ammonia ..
As it is very bad to breathe if you add your ammonia 1st .
Make sure you do the inside bottom of the outside doors to prevent them from coming in in the 1st place

Well I have to see any on my floors - when I do come across them indoors they're in my kitchen on the counter and on my window sill above my sink. Today they were on my desk in my office, no where on the floor ( I looked all over to try to find out where they were coming from). I'm not saying they didn't touch the floor upon arrival, just saying I'm not seeing them along the floor anywhere.

So I think I definitely have two drakes and a duck as far as my KC's go. Anyone looking for a KC Drake? I've been doing a lot of reading and it's probably not the best combo to have - two drakes to one duck. The poor duck is going to be harrassed come springtime. I'd like to swap my drake out for another hen but I'm sure that'll be a hard bargain to find.

The doctor's office called with my lab results just a little while ago. My sugar levels are good, but I'm anemic. They would like me to start taking iron. I was hoping they would let me adjust my diet first but they would like me to take the tablets.

It is still raining everyday at some point here. The floors in our barn are wet and everything is damp. It makes the animals more stinky and I don't like having it be damp it their living area. We need some drier weather.

Ants have taken over the cauliflower & endive sections of our garden. We've tried vinegar and constarch (even w/a little cinnamon) with little to no luck. Any suggestions?

Baby powder. They supposedly hate to cross talc. My dad used to have a problem with ants in his RV. They would get in around the tires. He sprinkled baby powder in a circle around each tire. Poof! Ants stayed away.

Hi guys! I asked you this last year and you had great suggestions, so am asking again this year. What to do for my birthday, which is tomorrow! So far I have a) mystic aquarium (really far) or b) Vermont teddy bear factory and shelburne museum. In that vein, any other suggestions? Already been to howe caverns and ausable, don't want to do great escape. Did lake george cruise last year. No movies I want to see that are out right now. Think of something your 14 year old daughter would find fun, no wine tastings or fancy dinners. Must allow jeans.

As for chicken stuff. need to rehome more birdies, trying to decide who should go. If anyone near me needs laying hens, reasonably young 1ish years old to 1.5 and not hatchery birds, let me know what you are looking for!! =) My fridge is jam packed full of eggs and I'm trying to do school and work, so need to have less time spent on birdie maintenance. Sides, I have county boy birds here and they are so cute I don't need anything else !

You would LOVE LOVE LOVE the Shelburne Museum. I have been there and I really want to go back. HOWEVER it is primarily outdoors, so if it is going to be hot? DO NOT GO. Long walks between exhibits and some are NOT air conditioned. (I went in early September, and should have waited until October)

My 14 year old daughter would have been thrilled being dropped off at a bookstore with MY credit card. Not sure that is going to help you out tho.

I've always heard that bleach was the only thing that would remove their trail scent. Maybe either one?

Bleach is better at removing ant trail. I use Clorox clean up all the time to keep them off the counters. This year is an especially bad year for insects because of all the rain. The ground is so wet that they are looking for a dry place to be. Those ant bait traps are wonderful inside the house. The ants take the poison bait back to the nest and kill them ALL. I put them in Sr. Citizen's houses because they just can't keep the place clean enough to keep the ants out. Because the poison is enclosed it is safe around pets and less determined children. (Nothing is totally child proof, cuz some kids are very determined to get at what they shouldn't get at) Raid brand ant spray is wonderful. I spray it across every opening to my house regularly (like after every rain that soaks it off)

For ants in the garden you can try a couple of drops of Blue Dawn (regular strength) in a spray bottle of water and spray the plants with ants. I don't think that it will kill the ants (but we can hope) but it will definitely kill the aphids that ants are harvesting dew from.

Try digging them up ? or covering them with leaves straw

Heres some things to try :
Cornmeal : its too big they cant digest it
marigold plants - natural insecticide
Drown them with water or try boiling water
Ammonia
For ants in our house I use Ammonia or windex ( any brand ) I spray the inside bottom of the door to discourage them from coming in
Cayenne Pepper or Some hot sauce
All I can think of now ...

My egg plants are "in clay pots" near the house. Not in the ground. It usually last a day and then with this rain it is gone. Since they do better in pots placed in the drive I find egg plants do better there than in the garden than in the garden.

We do get ants in the house so I place traps around where the cat can't get to them also. Can't say where they're coming in but it seems to work.

Now on another note. Went to pick Goose berries and boy am I tired. The season is short and my bushes are not bushes or doing well with all this water. I'm getting ready to dig them up and replant them a bit higher.

Also got some black and pink currants. I hate to get so many at once because it means preparing them. I plan to freeze them for future use.

I've read they're easy to grow but that has not been my experience. The same with raspberries.
