NY chicken lover!!!!

A renovated Dog House ? I love to remake things

Actually the old outhouse. I'm pretty much done with it for the day. I wanted to paint it but the wife says no, she likes the weathered look. I do have some left over tin from the garage that I want to put on the roof still. For now it's secure and that's all I'm concerned with.

Did they taste good scrambled?? I can't wait for mine to start laying. How old are your ducks?

They were delicious! Made duck egg quiche in my homemade solar oven this past Friday for backyard picnic everyone loved it and there was none left which surprised us. The some one asked if our ducks layed eggs? Everyone learned that, infact the deviled eggs, quiche, salads, mayo, and brownies were all the duck eggs we collected through the week. Priceless

They are 22, 23, and 26 weeks my caygua lays 2 eggs a day which I understand is outrageous. Her sister lays and egg a day along with my khaki. I have suckling that should start laying in the fall. Total I have 10 ducks now with 1 caygua drake

I need something bigger like this for my ducks. Once I'm done with work a month from now, I plan on spending the rest of the summer/fall constructing a new house for them along with getting my coops altered a bit and off the ground.

I made my chick broader out of an doghouse when they were old enough to go out side I attached a run to it pans made an access door in the roof.
Great job it is looking great! B-)

I chain mine up one at a time on 35 foot lead but only for bathroom other wise they inside with us if we go outside they get free range of the 2 acres or so. Now my neighbors down the road i'm about to call spca it sounds like they dog fight sometimes or beat the dog they are like 1/4-1/2 mile down the road and we hear them whimpering all the way up here. True open field and no back ground noise but still shouldn't hear them up here.

He don't read the fourms or know I posted doubt he will be humiliated. Not to mention none of you talk to him to say anything to him. Now if we posted on facebook and family saw and said something then yes it would be humiliating depending on what they say and how he desided to take it. lol just asked him if I could post it and he' said "sure".

Well I may visit someday.

Hopefully I can get my ducks in it tonight :-) Chris

I just can't keep up with all these posts. Worked over a bit and had to stop at Ollies for a tarp. I have red currants to clean of freezing, chickens to water and eggs to collect, Just to much to do.

Thanks. I do still need to make an access door to it. For now I can just lift the whole thing.

ke5hde ~ Now will you just lift it up to clean it out too? I've searched for "dog houses" on CL to see if I can find something hand made for the ducks to live in, but then I think, oh wait, how on earth will I clean it. Unless I take the bottom off and lift it....

Yeah for now I'll just have to lift it until I can figure something else out. It's not light. When I got to cutting it up I saw it had real rough cut 2x4's, all tongue and groove boards and 3 layers of shingles.
