NY chicken lover!!!!

OMFG! I knew it! I am pretty sure the Red Star is laying now!

The off white egg on the right is from Frenchie, the darker egg is the new layer. Can't wait to spend some time in the coop and find out who.

First eggs for both of our birds today, only I'm positive mine came from my Marans! Pretty color egg, Breella.

Thanks TOB, I'm sure it has some type of history, just not sure how far back. Our house is nearly 100yrs old and I'm sure the outhouse isn't that old but it's been around a while.
Lynzi, I've seen the pallet coops before and they seem pretty simple to build.
Breella, don't you just love a good mystery? I always love the first egg.

Chris

Any ghosts or interesting stories in your old house???

That's what I thought of doing originally before finding these shipping crates on CL that Taylor Rental was selling. I can alter this duck house a little bit by placing the run I had also made back on it but I worry about it having too much draft? Well not in the summer obviously, but something will have to be done in winter to close it off more.

No ghosts that I've seen or heard and we've been here 7 years. It is a cool house though. Post and beam construction. We have a couple of the posts exposed in our bedroom. There's a log that spans the entire floor of the house. I thought that was pretty neat. Most of the walls that hadn't been replaced over the years have rough cut studs. Of the 5 houses in this area we're the only one to have a yard full of black walnut and butternut trees.

I'll have to build a cover for the vent I cut in the back of mine. The eaves are open on both sides so I'll have some ventilation in the winter. I have decided that I'm going to cut the wall below the vent and hinge it. That way it "should" make it easy to clean out. I'm pretty sure I have some hinges here somewhere. As it stands now I have absolutely no money into it and about 5hrs of my time, mostly standing there and staring at it :-)
