NY chicken lover!!!!

Well, no eggs from the orps and BR! I don't know what all the racket was for this morning. Owell....maybe they're getting ready for some laying in the next few days.

This summer has been so busy. Always something going on and I haven't been able to got on the computer much. So many posts! I think the rain we got earlier this season washed a lot of nutrients from the soil in my garden. The veggies seem stunted, smaller than I have ever had before. I'm off to give them some plant food and see if it helps.
Mine this year are smaller & stunted as well. I just figured it was due to all the rain that occurred after I planted them. SOme finally did take off but it was later than normal. Hopefully all the blooms now turn into veggies before it snows

I've gotten a few pickings from my beans, only 6 tomatoes, and a handful of small zucchini. My greens are small leaved and the tomato plants are stunted. I have squash (winter) in a couple tire beds that had more manure in them and they are doing better. I was hoping that I would get enough to put up for winter. Hopefully the plant food will give it all the boost it needs. My chickens aren't laying as much as usual either, broodiness and some molting. My young stock hasn't started laying yet except for one leghorn. I didn't have enough to meet demand this week.

Well I'm back. Got home late and am I tired. I do like my job so far. The residents are nice mostly, but that's all I'll say here.

Garden wize, picked some cukes and peppers. No tomatoes yet. Some herbs are over run and will be yanked and the beds covered for the year. There is still much to do tending and all that.

Only the Del coop is doing really well egg wize. Of the four BM three are broody even though only one has eggs. The EE's are nuts with two chicks and three hens mothering them. Orps and CR's doing okay but not great. I'd know better if they were in separate coops as to who is laying and who is not. 9 hens and 4 eggs today.

I do wish the sister to TOB's BM would start to lay. I fear she may be and not where she should and something is happening to her egg. I really should check her to see.

Why do the ducks have to be such party animals and up all night?? I can't get them in their coop earlier than 9:30pm-ever!
Do your ducks live alone? Mine go in with the Hens, cuz hen raised them and all the chickens go in the coop, so the ducks do too. One coop, no choice, unless they want to be locked out for the night.
