NY chicken lover!!!!

Brella - I wish you Luck!

Lynzi - Thank you so much for the boys. They are settling in nicely. Everyone still is keeping to themselves but getting along together. I think that they like it here. I hope that they do. My little girl was so happy when she got home. She thought that I gotten them early for her birthday next week. We love
having them! I just hope that tonight goes well. I love that I feel like the farm is on the way to becoming a real farm. Just need a few more animals!

I think that I better wait till next spring, I don't want to press my luck with the hubby .

Breella, I'm so sorry, the whole thing sucks...and sounds kind of fishy. Like others have said, I have NEVER heard of someone having to solve a problem in one day. When it's official, you usually get a notice from the town stating you have a week or a month or something. Never ever one day. So I would do what Marquisella said and ask for an official notice - perhaps you'll find out that there isn't one and this was all bullying.

With what you have found out, it sounds like if you want to fight (and you might want to - if you're within your rights to keep the rooster and they manage to take that from you, how long until they decide they don't like your hens either and go for those?) you'll have a good chance of winning. Documenting when he crows, as someone else suggested, might help too. After all, if you can prove he doesn't crow at night, they don't have a leg to stand on, do they?

All this just makes me glad that most of my neighbors also have chickens, and roosters, and guineas. I can't imagine being told I'd have to get rid of my boys.

Just wondering, do you have lots of bantam cochins to? I have more than I want to count right now. I'm kind of scared to.

Lol. Yeah we have plenty of cochins here. Mottled, blue, black, self blue(lavender) black, red and white frizzles. Probably close to 20 or so. I'm not even sure :)

Breella,

I'm with Marquisella in that I do not believe you should legally be expected to give the town an answer tonight. That's ludicrous.

It would have been the neighborly thing to do for those that called the police to perhaps have a civil conversation with you first and voice their complaint politely and in person. Sheesh. Overkill!

Hope you can make heads or tails of this whole mess and can resolve things in your favor (and Duanes)!

Country boy yours are beautiful as well, I really need (or most likely want) to get out there.

Tired today busted my hip during my run each step filled with sharp pains. Rested today after i ran a few errans and visited my dad in the hospital, didn't finish the new run for the chickens like I was suppose to. Ugh

Brella good luck with everything, doing your research is key! If there is anything I can do lemme know.

Lynzi luvmychickens glad the ducks are well! I found a breeder of ducks and can't remember the farm for the life of me but when I go back to the public market I will get it. He had a lot of his fowl there very nice looking and a gooses even laid an egg. Cracks me up when they do that in strange places.

Well all is well my brabanter is healing beautifully the wound is half the size now and looks great when she's all healed I'm going to name her ( I don't have names for all my chickens not sure why just don't).

Take care and I hope the evening finds you well.

Brella, well I'm glad pearl has some babies to brood. So for the lil one.

Rancher, I wish you all the best with your BR roo.
They are looking cute I wonder what the one will look like a barred splash lol.
They are beautiful. That is 1hr 40min drive though ugh not sure I can do it now that school is back in session. I feel like I live so far away from everyone on here lol.

Yeah that's quite a drive. Just about how far we went to get them :) If we hadn't been planning on going to Waterloo that day we probably wouldn't have gotten them.

That would be the sensible thing to do, but the idiots who call these things in rarely have the nerve to say anything to your face. Even bozos who live in areas zoned agricultural, like my idiot neighbor who doesn't like my birds, don't seem to grasp that a little civility would go a long way. One day's notice? That's ridiculous. No way should that be acceptable.

I still wish I started with bantams. I love them! Not sure why I didn't...Oh wait....it was that impatient personality of mine to hurry up and have chickens! THATS why! LOL
