NY chicken lover!!!!

The guinea fowl are wandering around in the neighborhood pothead's yard on the other side of me, screaming their heads off every few minutes. I think it's hilarious, and am waiting to see how long it is before Pothead blames me for them. They're hollering? Sure are! They're noisy? That's their job! They're in your yard? You betcha! They're mine? Don't think so! Enjoy!

I had a friend in the yard eating apples a couple of hours ago.

Oh, and this is my main man, my big Bronze jake. I LOVE this turkey! Porter's has high-quality stock, and it shows in this big guy. It's a cruddy photo, but it was getting dark.

Hi there! I live in Perryville, NY, which is about 20 miles East of Syracuse. We are in the hills below the Nelson Wind Farms!! Love having my girls, got them totally by accident, and just love having them.

Just joined from Suffolk County Long Island. Hoping to get some ideas for local places for feed/supplies. Coop is being built, but we will wait till spring to fill it up!
Welcome newbies!!! Enjoy your chickens!!

Welcome ! chickens are special .
Im wondering how you got them by accident ?

LOL

My step-daughter was living with her brother and sister in law, they lived on a farm. A falling out ensued and SD asked me to go and "save" her chicks from her sil. I did, because I knew my dil already had a lot to do, without taking care of chicks that someone else had bought. Have had them two years now, and they have clucked their way into my heart. :)

Welcome!!!

I went to town hall to renew my dogs registration and decide to pop into planning and development since I was already there. Found out they knew who I was the moment I mentioned chickens (I guess am the first chicken complaint they have had in the town in recent memory) and that there are about 10 complaints against me, the earliest being from 4:30am but they did not say how far back the complaints go.. I spoke with a code enforcement officer himself and another gentleman whos title i didnt get. We talked about the property being zoned, it is still RA. They found it odd since I am smack in the middle of a gigantic cluster of R-3. They acknowledge that I am legally allowed to have Duane! I told them that I am looking to rehome him if I find that keeping him locked in the coop until late morning does not solve the conflict with the neighbors. I tried to be as civil and nice as possible and hopefully this continues to be as positive as this morning felt.

Honestly that sounds pretty positive to me as well.

That's funny those guineas are in your neighbors yard. Your turkeys look good.

I would be on the alert to make sure the "town" isn't influenced to change your zoning. Probably when those people built houses in your area, one by one, they asked to have their property zoned residential, until yours is smack dab in the middle, but still agriculture. Just keep on top of it in case.
