Do these look like Racoon? I found another better one, but we stepped on it and lost it

I jinxed myself.
We had a preditor I'm guessing racoon come and got in the duck hut! It got my Sanjay.

(My kids changed thier names to Sanjay (black) and Craig (gray)) What ever it was, it pried open the door and killed him. I'm just so upset! I can't believe that I was so stupid. It is weird that it just ate his neck and head, the bill was gone? no other aparent injuries. Craig was out this morning when I saw the door was open. I knew that I closed it lastnight. It looks like it climbed over the fence. That looks like what the tracks show. I haven't told the kids yet. I can't bring myself to tell them. I'd say I wish that they wouldn't notice, but I know as soon as they go outside the will realize that there is a missing duck. (I'm sorry Lynzi - I promised that I would take care of them). I cried my eyes out when I had to clean up.

I guess the first is always the hardest!

My dh and I have to talk, we have to decide if we are going to get Craig a friend or not. He has the chickens to keep him company, but I'm sure that he misses his little buddy. He has been quacking all morning.

I'm going to the NEPC inn January & bringing chicks to sell. There will be Porcelain silkies, actually available now, Coronations, Possible Brabanters, if they start laying before next week. I also have available now, my lavendar Wyandotte project birds. Their offsprinng should produce 50% lavendar. They will be F3's, I have 2 hens & 1 roo, 1 cockerel. Just one of the hens is lavendar colored, the rest are split to lavendar. $30 takes all 4.

I think all my Marans chicks are sold already.

I will have Sebastapol goslings/eggs for sale in the spring, as well as Cayuga Ducklings & eggs.

morning. I was sick this week and had the girls school events so haven't been able to be online. Nora has been more needy in the afternoons so I haven't been able to do much with the cheeps. DH has been doing the chores in the evenings. Wish everyone the best.

Christmas wish....
I would like to get a polish hen/pullet for the grandkids for Christmas. They saw a pic of one and think they are funny looking.
If anyone has a polish, polish mix or any other crested available please let me know. I have a mean as heck silkie roo who suffers from short man syndrome so I really prefer to stay away from getting another roo. This chicken doesn't have to be young, if you have an old lady running around that is fine too.
I realize its going to be hard to find but I would love to surprise them.

Got my big coop cleaned out and fixed up right before the rain picked up again. I stapled a plastic covering over the open window for now until DH can help me get it turned around. They have a light bulb in there so I'm not too concerned about light at the moment. I'm still getting 2-3 eggs a day from that coop since they picked up laying again. If anyone if interested in hatching eggs I now know which eggs are Stella's, the BR and Buff Orp mix so if you wanted pure orps I would gather a batch of JUST Stella's eggs for anyone interested. So far I've gotten a blue pullet from the two of them. wonder if this lone egg in the incubator will be another blue or some other color.

No more eggs from the silkies, still no eggs from the ducks. Although if the ducks begin to lay it could be from any one of them - the KC or Runners at this point. They're all of laying age.

Best of luck with that. The only crested thing I have is my 1 brabanter. If you want to drive all the way over here I would give her to ya. She does have a funky toe nail though its like split on sides of her toe so she has two partials. That toe pic is hard to tell but the very top is toe nail and the white on toe by shadow is a nail also. I also have ee's if you want tuffs and muffs will give away if you want to do the driving. Not sure where in cny you are. I'm a hour south of buffalo. Its raining here today so her top is alittle together more than normal. It's not a big fluff more like a v mow hawk I think of it.
