NY chicken lover!!!!

I talked to guy at homedepot said sharkbites are good to 210 or was it 220?? Ether way hotter than my boiler should get up to so good there. Taking a break waiting for my mom to call back need to talk to her about some stuff. I figure not drinking so I have all night to get back under there using flashlight already so no difference lol.

One day at a time. So glad you are not drinking today. (Imagine how much more you will get done sober in the evening and how much safer you will be doing it)

I'm done I fixed all I can now I have to call a plumber. I fixed 2 holes went to add water wasn't getting pressure so I turned heat on opening valves hoping to get air out and get pressure. Thought it started to go up but nope it just went down. Right onto my sons floor and all through hall and into bathroom. A line in his room froze and burst but drained through the other holes so I never knew. Well the line is bent in a U and it's broken right at the fins and my small cutter wont be able to cut it.

I think its time to drop all my chickens, 2 rabbits and a dog. I think we are just going to let bank have this house. i think we have put more into it than we have paid on it. Every year its something different or sometimes same ****. It needs rebuilt from ground up by time we get done fixing it we will have a 300,000.00 house worth probably 65,000.

I have heard it is better to sell your house than let the bank get it .I suppose it depends on how much it is worth .
Did you have someone inspect the house before you bought it ? I thought banks required that now days .
If you had to you could eat the chickens . that would save you money .
Take one day at a time . Work on one thing at a time . You can now see the all the problems . Dont let it overwhelm you .
You can only do the best you can . The plumbing is important now .
The other things can wait .

Like I've said you need to get some advice. A plumber could come in and inspect things and tell you what's what. At least you'd know what needs to be done. Before you let the bank take the house, talk to a realtor and see how much the house is worth. I know it's hard but ignoring the problem will only make it worse. People want to help.

Like I've said previously we have friends in a similar situation but they just won't take or get advice. So they suffer.

Lot of years ago we got help from what was is called , Community Development. They came in and fixed our foundation, two roofs and did some electrical work. For us is was a no interest loan, for friends who had a lower income their work was done for free.

Talk you the utility company. They may have a program to help fix the heating problem. National Grid. Even if you have a boiler, use oil or propane, they may be able to help.

If you have not called AA make the call. I'm sure they'll be able to help with more than your drinking.

I wish you well,

Rancher

I would sell it if we could get what we owe but I already know we cant I've seen better go for less around here lately. We had it inspected but a lot of stuff wasn't seen like no insulation in any walls the fact hot water heater was about dead or boiler going to keep breaking. Didn't know we had plaster behind wall paper till kids peeled paper off then plaster in a few spots till we go them to stop. Didn't know the well runs dry easy or that there was pebbles in our lines from water softener. Didn't know the whole up stairs is on one breaker so you can run one space heater to help take chill off not two or it blows. Just so much it didn't see and we didn't know what to look for that needs fixed. It really does need rebuilt from ground up. Foundation, walls, floors, floor joists and all but 6 windows, nothing is square or right measurements. Shoot you run a space heater in bathroom and one on other side of dining room and you blow a fuse but run it on outlet by the bathroom in dining room and your fine.

We've been on a waiting list for winterizing the house 6 years come mid may I think it is. They do foundation or roof or windows or insulation work up to a certain amount. But lady next to my mother in law got it within 2 years cause she rented out one side. So who knows if we will ever get that. Even if we got intrest free loan we still would be looking at paying more than the house cost and we would never make the money back. If we could fix the house for under 20k and we paid the house off now there is no way we would get 90k for it to break even. That's not including the work we already have done to it. I'll try to find some free fixing things but we make too much to get help with all other stuff we've tried for so I highly doubt we will get help with this.

And now I have some stupid mouse chewing the wall behind my desk...lol.

I was crowded out of bed by my oldest daughter, so I thought I would say morning. Got home from company party after 10pm. Thought I was going to turn into a pumpkin because it was way past my bedtime. With my work hours I am not used to staying up late.

Morning all. My cat insisted that I get up early this morning. Pushy diva she is. The boys were crowing early this morning too. Dh let them out and found the inside waterer in the big coop is still leaking so out it goes until further notice. I have to clean that coop anyways so it will get all dried out today. They will just have to drink outside.

Tab--I remember those days when my girls would pile in bed and I would have to get out. Yes, at 9 pm I am looking at my bed, sometimes at 8! My kids now make fun of me if I am up past 10. I just tell them that they will get that way too.

Jlaw--network. Ask around. Your neighbors and aquaintances may know of someone knowledgable who can come and look things over and help you with suggestions on what to do first to get your mess straightened out. I would question the whole initial inspection that was done on the house if there was that much wrong with it. See if you have any recourse there. Is there a Habitat for Humanity group in your area? They may be able to help. They also have salvage centers where you can go get stuff they have salvaged from other houses for cheap. Rancher had good ideas as well.

Time to get moving. Lots to do.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemyare deceitful.

What am I saying here? A friend will tell you the straight up truth even if it hurts. An enemy speaks soothing words pretending they're you friend.

I'm your friend so here goes.

J, you're not listening to anything I'm telling you. Get some advice. Stop trying to figure your way out of the this mess on your own.

This advice is for EVERYONE. If you can't get by now more debt won't help. Our politicians can't seem to grasp the concept. Read my lips. MORE DEBT IS NOT THE ANSWER. A second job or income perhaps, but not more debt.

Why am I so adamant and seem harsh. Cuz right now I'm going through some financial things with one of my kids. Her hus. got fired. They always need help and quite frankly we can't afford to help them. It's always some scheme. His parent's are going to do this or that and it's just a bunch of bull.

The house they are in and the one next door are up for sale because the landlord failed to pay the taxes. My DD and her employees just got called in at Excellus and told to up date their resume's. She just moved out two months ago. She is working a second job but it's not enough to support her and her cat.

So I'm stressed.

J, not off the baloney and ask for some advice and help. It's not being weak it's being wise.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Get some advice for your family and your sake. I'm your friend. I do care enough to tell it like it AS is.

I hear you Rancher and do not disagree.

This seems to me to come down to civics and long term societal outlooks.....

Meaning - if a person's credit is already tanked, they PERSONALLY may do better to pocket all mortgage money and start to save .... it can take 4 months to literally years before a foreclosures and the person can be keeping all the money in a safe spot - ready to buy again or rent or whatever .... so keep saving until you are forced off the property - just paying utility bills. If a person's credit is NOT tanked - then this is a terrible thing to do - as once your credit is tanked - everything will cost more unless you pay in cash - meaning you pay more interest, insurance and all sorts of things if you have bad credit.

HOWEVER - the connecting issue is that all property values are affected, words like honor and promise are weakened .... (but are companies keeping them with us?) it makes thing more complicated for other people when they go to buy homes ... there is a rat's nest of ills that walking off contributes to.

Things are not set up like they were 40 years ago - the whole process is set up to keep people in debt. I wish things were set up like they used to be ....

Jlaw, not sure if this helps:

They may have grant opportunities.
Also try USDA Rural Development, HUD

http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/states/new_york/homeownership/homerepairs#upstate if you can link into this site, it also has winterization information. I google map Forestville, not sure if you know any people in the city, closest could be Buffalo.

In Utica we have many handy people due to the high immigrant population so finding quality very reasonable work for odd jobs is easier. When we had relatives come from Poland years ago, we would find jobs for them. One of the old relatives did a some masonry work in the USA and made some money to help our family still back there. Many of the Bosnians and the Hispanic population are amazing at home repair in our area. We are very lucky. It may be a long shot, but may be worthwhile to ask churches in the bigger cities if they know people looking for work, and they don't necessarily have to have a green card, it would be for odd jobs only. Sometimes priests are very helpful. Another is refugee center. I hope it all works out best for you!

Seems like a lot going on with the plumbing atm.
