NY chicken lover!!!!

Hey...its still morning! Two loads of laundry done, all three coops stripped, cleaned and new litter, etc. Dh helped with the big one. Since the waterer leaked in there, everything had to come out and be cleaned and dried. So glad it is done. That was my workout for the day. Left the terorists out to run around. Silkies already had their outdoor time.

Quote: Do you have house insurance? We had burst pipes that went to the upstairs bathroom, but were in ceiling over my kitchen sink. The water came pouring down. I was home when it happened & I managed to shut off the valve to the upstairs so we had just ceiling plaster damage & the burst pipe. Because the damage was due to frozen/burst pipes,, the insurance paid for repairs. Yes, we had a $1000 deductible, but the estimate was well over $2,000. The insurance guy stood looking at the leak and said " too bad you were home when it happened. if it had kept leaking you would have received enough to redo the entire kitchen cause it would have ruined everything...aarrggh...I wish I hadn't been home either, I could use a new kitchen...

FYI, for anyone that has this happen, we had to have a plumber come before the adjuster came to fix the pipe. We kept the piece of pipe, and good thing cause the adjuster needed to see that it has actually burst.

My point being, call the insurance co if you have insurance.

See metella the house is in wifes name my credit was bad and wouldn't let me on load it's slowly going up. I got approved to be on the car loan this time last time I couldn't. I have like a 672 last I checked and we've been making payments and I got a CC we are making payments on to raise it. So if we foreclosed Wifes credit would get ruined not mine and then we could maybe buy another house some other time with my credit. We are still looking into fixing this dump but also looking into giving up on it. I talked to my mom and she said if she had the place she would have droped it by now and started over cause the cost will be a lot and we wont be able to get ahead. I talked to her about moving to they're old house they was going to sell in april and rent from her till we can get back on feet and get a down payment ether for her house or a different house. She has to talk to dad about that though. I thought of not paying for the last month not 4 months to years lol. I figured 1 month and they would be knocking.

Why do birds, we have done the chataqua opportunities that's the winterization program we have been on for the past 6 years that they help home owners who rent first before single families. Sadly I fear to let local people work on my house. My mother inlaw seems to have nothing but trouble with repairs she has done by different people. Her roof has been leaking through like 3-4 different roofers "fixing the messed up from before". I know there are good people out there and i'll have to talk to people to find them but I just fear taking word from most people around here. I'm not from around here so don't know the reputation for most places.

I have called 211 and got two help groups that might help loan money or help fix. There was more but lady was saying not disabled or not old enough for the others. I've also hit up a website for help they are looking for local contractors for the foundation.

I did something I've never done beffore...not the brightes thing either.

I have been having bad fertility so far. Probably out of the eggs I put in the incubator, only 20% were fertile.

So a week & a half ago, they picked up laying and I did't put any eggs in the inncubator for 10 days. I had 75 eggs so I put them all in the incubator thinking that if I ended up wtih 30 that would be good. So today I candled them, and much to my dismay, 60 of them are fertile!

Whats my problem you ask. My hatcher only holds 40 eggs. I have a LG that I hate, I supposed I could use, but its not dependable and I would hate for those eggs to not hatch because of that inncubator....

I could leave some in the inncubator, but I can never get the humidity up high enough in it, and it makes a mess that I hate to clean....

Don't know what I will do, but am kicking myself for putting so many in at once...

We have it but only damage is the pipe nothing else. Last time we had them sweat a line it wasn't that much that was under the crawl space though. I wish a pipe up stairs would burst but only ones under house and sons room which is coldest room and wasn't using so shut door not thinking it would get cold enough to freeze in there.

Good resolution on the mystery dogs.. I left my neighbors a note and they dropped by a bit ago to apologize and that they had someone out to check their electric dog fence thing, but that there is supposedly a break in the line that can't be fixed until spring. They are very apologetic and said that the dogs were grounded and would only be out escorted until the line is fixed. Very nice!

Great out come hope they stick to it. Sounds like you have some of the nicer neighbors.

Quote: Another thing to consider. We have "replacement" value on our insurance. So although it costs a little more inn premiums, its totally wroth it. If I'd have actual value insurance & the kitchen has been totalled, they would only have paid what they thought the actual value of a 20 year old kitchen would be. Quite a bit less than it would cost to redo it.

Cute Little TT did something funny today ...
I have been giving her a little treat in the nest box ..

I left it in there & did other chicken things ...I open the back up ...
NO DISH ? it is sort of egg colored ? She had tucked it under her with the eggs ... still with food in it ..

Hey what ever you can hatch out right LOL silly girl she's probably like lemme give it go hey you never know.

Agree!!!

I'm done I fixed all I can now I have to call a plumber. I fixed 2 holes went to add water wasn't getting pressure so I turned heat on opening valves hoping to get air out and get pressure. Thought it started to go up but nope it just went down. Right onto my sons floor and all through hall and into bathroom. A line in his room froze and burst but drained through the other holes so I never knew. Well the line is bent in a U and it's broken right at the fins and my small cutter wont be able to cut it.

I think its time to drop all my chickens, 2 rabbits and a dog. I think we are just going to let bank have this house. i think we have put more into it than we have paid on it. Every year its something different or sometimes same ****. It needs rebuilt from ground up by time we get done fixing it we will have a 300,000.00 house worth probably 65,000.

Good luck with everything.

I was crowded out of bed by my oldest daughter, so I thought I would say morning. Got home from company party after 10pm. Thought I was going to turn into a pumpkin because it was way past my bedtime. With my work hours I am not used to staying up late.

Yeah I can understand that!

Scoff if you like ....

I just placed my order for some Super Bowl pizza and wings ....

While I don't think the players should be celebs or getting such large paychecks ... I do like pro football.

Sports have a decent place in life - mostly with younger ones ! ha ha I feel a little too stiff to do what I used to. I never played on a team in high school or college - so not speaking from that experience ... but it does sharpen the mind and body. Sure - there are other ways too - but sports are not without benefit. Things have just gotten out of hand in the US ...

I'm off to enjoy the hoopla and commercials and the big game ...
