NY chicken lover!!!!

CNY located - Seneca/Tompkins County. Want to raise heritage turkeys and chickens. Would love to try incubating! Hoping to find some other heritage poultry people in my area.

Morning all. Got about 3 inches yesterday so all paths and runs have been shoveled. Put the big heavy rubber bowl in the terrorist coop so they could have water. Its elevated so they cant tip it over. They are drinking a lot. Twiggy ran outside this morning when dh opened the people door. She is still the outsider and I suspect kept from the feeder. I brought her in to the cellar this morning and let her eat there. Her weight wasnt great but not bad either. At least her crop was nice and full when I put her back out into the run. Thelma and Louise had to come out and supervise dh as he was shoveling. They are a nosy couple. Eowyn is sitting on nothing, a very determined broody silkie. At least she doesnt peck me when I check under her. Her daughter, on the other hand, tries to remove body parts when you reach under her.

Today is going to be a beautiful day. You might say its the calm before the storm. This means its going to be insane at work today. Dont go near a grocery store! Snowmageddon is coming and everyone will be getting milk, bread and eggs because they may be stuck inside for a day.

Have a good day everyone!

Eggs?/ DW sold three dozen yesterday. I gave a doz to TSC and a friend at the school. I've got another dozen or so on the counter. Haven't collected todays. Been messing with this computer getting ready to do our taxes.

Lord have mercy nothing's come in at the library and TV's a bust. Nothing good on there.

Good afternoon!

I had to go out to Liverpool to drop something off in DH's car for when he gets back tomorrow. While I was out there I stopped out in Cicero where I used to work. Now mind you I haven't stopped there in almost 6 years. I saw one of the ladies that I used to work with who is who I stopped in to see anyway..Well we got talking about my daughter, I had my son with me, and I thought that I had a picture in my bag...Well guess what I didn't have any recent pictures of my kids but I did have a picture of my chickens which I promptly showed her. Luckily we found each other on FB when I got back home so at least she can see my kids that way. When I got home I made sure that I put pictures of the kids in my bag.
....After all this time I still love that smell of fresh coffee.

Yup this is me, except I don't have them all named.

Well one of chicks was eaten by something I'm guessing a cat dammit that was suppose to be my dinner when it got older UGH just feathers and some blood We will kick the kids out of one coop and confine them to that until they are bigger. Maybe a will set a trap as well.

Anywho the new toilet is being installed right now it is so heavy I could not lift it at the store someone had to for me and it sat in my truck until the guy came this evening to install it LOL. So the storm is coming tonight and I have to get chicken food tomorrow because during the off season they are only open wed and fri though you can make arrangements with my work schedule it really doesn't matter lol. Plus with the other things I got going on I had already planned this out and just found out about the storm LOL Oh well I'm not worried it's only 12" of snow that is coming tonight so no big deal to get there tomorrow. I'm a good driver my dad taught me how to drive in the snow with a neon I can handle it in a truck!!!

Well can't wait to test run this toilet gonna go drink lots of coffee to get things going LOL

I've been putting off hatching chicks because I might take a trip south come spring.  While I don't need any chicks, I do like to hatch.   My son and his are in Florida and there was talk they might have to move back to AL.  If I did go that way, I have a friend who shows Silkies.  The thought is I might bring back some eggs like before.  We shall see.

So Jlaw, if anything happens and you need to start over, keep me in mind and I will supply you with chicks or chickens when or  if the time comes.

I hadn't intended to be on here again but I got  "Oz the great and powerful"  from the library and it didn't hold my interest.  They lost me with the ceramic doll thing.

Holy crap! I didn't think I'd ever see the day you got silkies. You'll love em, no really you will. We have a small flock of BBS and they're actually decent layers when they aren't broody.

Evening all. I do believe Rancher has misplaced his tinfoil hat. The silkies have gotten to him! So I thought I was working today but I misread my schedule and was off. Ran a few errands in town then came home and shoveled everything further back. Filled up feeders and let the terrorists out to roam for a while. They dont go far, except for Thelma and Louise. They followed me to the front of the house and talked my ear off as I was shoveling. I need to get chicken sized shovels and put them to work. They then followed me back out to the back yard, bawking all the way. I did manage to get my hands on them today and boy are they solid. Gave the terrorists some lettuce and kale, which they promptly ate. My silkies wandered around the front a bit. They will get some goodies tomorrow. Checked and topped off all the fluids in my car and bought new wipers but I cant get the old ones off. Dh will have to do that for me. Got an order for a dozen straight run chicks from my former neighbor. He mainly wants them to wander his property and eat all the bugs and stuff and for eggs. I will be throwing 3 dozen in the bator come March, 2 of my own and 1 order of heritage rir from freds eggs. Looking forward to getting those.

Shovels are in the start position for tomorrow. I dont need exercise videos...I have snow!
