well ok.. after much reading I get it now I can have chickens too. Just have to be careful. Love seeing all the pics of everyones poultry. This forum is a great place to learn!

I raised 2 turkeys this year and didn't have a problem with black head. Now that's not saying I wont next year. Quite a few people up here in NY have the raised together some share coops some don't. Everyone I've talked to on here and local hasn't had a problem of black head. Now someone could have had it but not reported it or known what it was. If I remember right someone told me to call my local AG department and see if any black head around.


Well after threating to sue the caller telling my my computer is sending out a virus call to windows help center I just told them I don't have a computer. Lets see if that works any better. Gets old telling them to stop calling and they say listen listen listen as I'm telling them off and not to call no more.

Well I cracked one of her eggs ..! will it survive ?
I dropped the little ceramic dish & of course it hit one of the eggs ..
She was out of the nest ...I had been feeding her twice a day ..Yesterday I only gave her some sunflower seed for the 1st feeding .
She was starved ..at snack time ....perched on the back of the nesting box ..eating out of the serving plate
I guess I will just have to wait & see ...it doesnt look like the membrane cracked ..

FYI, so I'm looking for a new/another Therm/hygrometer for my incubator I go on Ebay. I check "Free shipping" , thinking I might save a bit.

Well I find two. One with a probe thing that extends into the incu and the same model but without the probe thingy. Both by Incubator warehouse and with "free shipping".

Then I go to Incubator warehouse and what to I find? Both Therm/hygrometer models but at less money. Add in the shipping and guess what. Same price they have them on Ebay.

So I learned "Free shipping " is NOT free shipping at all, but a lie. The shipping is just rolled into the price.

I'm always touting how good Incubator Warehouse is and here they are running a scam. I did get the new turner motor from them cheaper than elsewhere though. It's in there now and very loud, but working.

Still why not just NOT put the Therm/hygrometers up without saying free shipping? I will order one from them and haven't decided which one. I have one that is working but the last two hatches came out so bad that I'm adding a second one.

Anyhow, don't think "Free shipping" is free on Ebay. Live and learn.

The call is phony, BUT,

Per my son the Military Tech. Spybot is okay to use and free. Add that to Norton and you should be okay. I use both.

You must update Spybot at least once a week and it's easy to use.

Now per the Computer Tech guy in the paper, he says a computer cleaner is good, though I have not used it. Yet.

Sometimes sites add things to your computer other than "cookies" . Though you can clean cookies off you computer yourself.

I notice if I look up something the next thing I know there are ads popping up for that item.

If it's just a minor crack, take a white unscented candle and gently rub it over the crack a few times. Put it back and it might be fine. I discovered one egg under a broody had a crack and did this. She had two eggs and hatched them both.

Temp in incu is 73.6 with humid. 23%. That's with just the turner on and no water added. Therm taped to an outside wall in the room is about that temp too.

Waiting to get CR eggs, but don't want them too soon with this weather. GA is pretty cold right now and that's where they're coming from.

He is probably trying to get her to go broody & set on the eggs . Mine get in the nesting box & form the nest & call the hens..

Yeah I saw him in another box. He is so active today. I feel like my coop went from being supper boring to totally exciting overnight. All my chickens have been wanting to do is roost and sleep in between eating. This is my first year with a rooster and hatching eggs. We lost our roo last year before everyone started getting active again. I'm so excited!!
