NY chicken lover!!!!

They do have a run, but it's not covered and that part of the yard is a snow magnet, lol. Approx 1/3 of the run is melted right now, so they are getting out. But the extreme cold we had this winter, plus the snow pack...I have one hen with all of her feathers and three that are missing patches. Even the rooster has been picked at...his feathers are all ragged.

And of course, the bully in the flock is my best layer.

I have three Easter Egger hens, one Barred Rock hen (the bully...and her name is Sally Strutters) and one Barred Rock roo.

Watching the news and they are saying that we are going to be getting a snow storm on Wednesday, but they can't figure out how much we are going to be getting, but said that it may be 6 -12 inches. Just when our giant snow piles were starting to melt.

I know the temps have been colder but I can remember making snowmen during many an Easter break during my childhood. I may sound old, but I'm only 41. :D

I'm 31 and can remember have snow in April! We used to travel to to FL every year on our April vacations from school. I remember getting snow year right before we left and I had asked my parents if I could bring some snow with us to show my cousin because at that point she had never seen it before LOL

Sorry kinda off topic but I'm having trouble finding this online...
For those of you with oil heat, how often do you have someone come out to service your furnace. This is our first time dealing with oil, we never had anyone out to service our furnaces in the past at the house we used to own or other rentals we've lived in. Just something I thought of and was curious if it's any different than having gas or electric heat.

Oh I missed chicken talk...I've been driving all over creation lately and am very happy to be home with the flock again. Last week I went to Virginia Beach where I drove 11 hours down there only to have 29 degree weather, and this weekend I had to go to CT and spend all weekend inside when I guess it was actually decent out!

The girls have been laying like crazy, and I'm pretty sure I have 2/3 easter eggers who lay brown eggs....Grrr....
If I get a broody I'm gonna order some pure Ameraucanas or Cream Legbars. I want blue!!!!!!! or at least green!!!!!

My salmon Faverolle is missing her beard, I'm wondering if it's being picked out by someone or if it has something to do with her beard getting soaking wet when she drinks and it being too cold....her skin looks fine.

Everyones ducky pictures are very cute, I'm resisting the best I can....you all are evil.

Gonna start my Tomatoes this week! Spring is a coming!
