NY chicken lover!!!!

Sounds like your burner isn't firing the second that oil is shot into the firebox.  Very correctable and shouldn't cost much for parts.   If I lived closer I'd send Ray over to give you an idea of what was wrong so you don't get ripped off.   I had oil for decades (still do, actually) and  I have never cleaned an oil furnace chimney....as long as there is a cover on it so birds can't get down, you shouldn't have to clean it.  I forget what the exact problem is when you smell oil...but I have had it happen and the burner guy fixed it up quite nicely.  As long as he is there ask him if the nozzle is ok....cuz nozzles build up carbon and need to be replaced.

Do you happen to know of someone or a company that can fix this for me? I've tried looking online but can't seem to find anyone.

Just realized you're not even in the same area as me lol I'll have to have DH look around for me. I'm so clueless when it comes to this stuff.

Lol, she just looks so different without the big poofy cheeks! I've never run into this with my EE's. I guess with the SF its better, I wondered sometimes if she could actually see past the beard it was so big!

I never see food, just wet and matted down after she drinks.

LOL

Yep-- same experience here. My EE never gets 'shaved' but the faverolles do pretty regularly. I don't know why, but there it is! Even my sassy one gets trimmed.

We get ours serviced annually. He runs diagnostics to get the greatest efficiency. One year we skipped the service and end up with an emergency call charge instead when it wouldn't fire due to needing new tips. That was before we had the woodstove. Another year during service he found that a part was failing, and was able to look up all the original warranty information and get the part for free, saving us from a more expensive repair. If you are smelling oil, I would definitly have someone check it out. Not an emergency call, but get in soon.
The filters are supposed to be changed every 3 months or so, but we don't since that is our secondary heat source now, and because we have an odd size filter that is impossible to find.
I have one of those oil contracts since our boiler is 1000 years old. :p It's only $200'ish a year and includes the yearly cleaning AND all parts and labor for emergency calls. Those guys have come out at least once each year at 2AM - once they were here for six hours on a Sunday morning from 2AM to 8AM and replaced almost every part on the thing. No additional charge. WELL worth the money LOL.

DH came home with a camera system for added "security" tonight. My response? Oh no! We are sooooo putting that in the chicken coops! Lol

Many times the company that delivers your oil has people on staff that are licensed to fix the oil burners/furnaces. I would start there first and if they don't have anyone on staff, ask them for recommendation of who to call.

They're the ones I asked first today and they said they stopped servicing furnaces years ago. But my husband uses someone for his work so he's going to ask them tomorrow if they'll come down to our house.

My guy is an independent HVAC repairman and is from around Cincinnatus. Not sure if he travels as far as Tully. He will talk your ear off and show you everything you need to know. He has talked us through troubleshooting over the phone, he believes in having an informed homeowner, not lining his pockets over simple stuff. I'll have to check what his business name was again, we just know him as G. Oh, and his wife has chickens ;)

I'm not sure where our guy comes from. I'll look him up and see if maybe he comes out your way if you want. We have propane, not sure come to think about it if he doesn oil or not, but I had called our delivery place and they gave me his number. They stopped their service dept a while back too. If my uncle lived around here I'd send him to you, but he lives down state. That would be one expensive service call .
