NY chicken lover!!!!

Sitting here waiting patiently for my call from the PO. I called this morning at like 6:45 since there hasn't been any tracking info on my birds since Monday. The woman who answered said the truck wasn't even in yet and to call back at 9. Guess I'm a little confused as to how the PO works. When the ducklings were shipped and I called the day before, the woman I spoke to then had informed me that they're truck comes in around 6-6:15, they're done unloading and sorting by 6:40 and that I would probably receive a call 6:45-7:00. They called at 6:50 that morning for me to come and pick them up. Figured I was safe calling at 6:45 to see if it had at least arrived safely. I don't know....So here I am waiting and waiting. I was nervous about it being icy out and having to go up and down that huge hill but I don't see how there could possibly be any ice, it's almost 40 out and raining.

So I have a broody monster on my hands. The frizzle I got from ke5hde has decided to go broody after she just got done hatching eggs for him! How do I break this?!? Every time I go into the shed I move her but she just stays in the spot I move her to. I think she's going to be worse than the silkies!

Lockdown tonight! Candled this morning while it was still dark in that room and thought I had an internal pip but it was just the bird moving around and causing a "bump" in the egg.

Birds are here!!!! Be back later!!!

Does anyone live close to NYC? Someone emailed me her daughters science project eggs didn't hatch, and she is looking desparately for more eggs , and willing to pay whatever. Needs by tomorrow.

Let me know and I'll pass on her email.

well how frustrating for you, for Petes sake people buying hatching eggs on ebay should pay right away so you can collect and ship. Hope you hear from them tonight. Glad your eggs are ok! o I am so jelly of the Brinsea

but happy for you with the turner.

O i see now it was your first sale ever... uggg shame on them... I see some egg sellers request on their page that payment needs to be made within 24 hours. I don't think thats unreasonable considering you are against the clock in the hatching eggs department.

I bought ONE package of Grogel on ebay on March 5th.. paid immediately. Have I got a tracking number, message from the seller or anything? no, not a word just sit and wait, well I don't do that very well..I did send them a message and waited politely a couple of days.. oh well I just filled out the resolution thinger to cancel it I'll go get it somewhere else. Its so silly.

Oh you could even put "Payment is expected at end of auction so your eggs can get on the journey to you! "

I buy books on Ebay and use paypal, which is easy to use. I have made two purchases off Amazon and neither was satisfactory.

One the package had been sliced but the mail person left it anyway. I had to open it to check the clothing only to find out it had a small cut. Just in the top few threads. I did send it back but 1. it was shipped by UPS but came USPS and the USPS wouldn't take it without payment since I'd opened it. As luck would have it UPS showed up and did take it.

The second item was NOT the color of the picture I thought I'd ordered.

I have learned that "free shipping" doesn't mean free shipping. It means the shipping is rolled into the price of the item.

As for EGGS, some people list them cheap but then bump the shipping up to cover the cost. It doesn't cost $30 to ship a dozen eggs priority mail. The USPS prices have gone up but not that high. Yet!

No matter who sends her eggs, Express mail is the only way to get them there by tomorrow. Maybe. I have no doubt there are people IN NYC that have chickens and hatching eggs.

Point being you might as well send her eggs, since no matter where they come from they won't get there any faster.

Well I've had an eventful few days. First, I awoke yesterday to the bulb in my homemade incubator blown and the temperature at 70 and the eggs all cold. Cue panic and a mad dash for a new bulb. Found one, but it put off more heat than the old one so I had to sit there in front of the bator for an hour tinkering with the thermostat to avoid frying the eggs. Upon candling all survived but jeez.

I am worried that this weather will cause a power outage. Many of us have much to lose. Though I'd rather lose eggs than chicks in the brooder.

I'm getting ducks today. Last year I got my shipment at 6:30 ish too. So I called my post office and gave them my number. They hadn't gotten my ducks in yet. They said around 9-9:30 ish. So I'm waiting....
Also today is day 21 for 3 eggs. I haven't seen any movement :/ I actually locked down a day early lol is that bad? I got ahead of myself. I didn't even realize until the next day. They were good when I put them in. I hope they hatch.

Well I'm giving myself a snow day. I can do my work from home today anyway.

I just watched a fox run along the back edge of the yard just inside the woods. 5 minutes later I saw a rabbit run out from under a pile of sticks. He better have been after the rabbit steered clear of the coop. Looks like I'll be hunting and working today.

Hope everyone stays warm! Good luck on all the hatches!

NOOOOOOO! save the bunny.

I haven't seen a bunny in a while. I catch a fox around I'll hunt him down and bash him to death with a club.
