NY chicken lover!!!!

Can I put some water in the tub and put my ducks in there for a while? Maybe shallow water and how long can I leave them in there? Do I dry them off afterwards when it's time to put them back in the brooder?

You can, I would dry them off after. I let mine swim around yesterday in some warm water, they were loving it! I let them stay in there until the water starts getting cooler so they don't get cold. Once it's no longer warm I take them out. Took a blow dryer to them after, they were LOVIN that! Just laid there with eyes closed and let the heat hit them. LOL

I'm looking into ordering chicks or eggs from a personal breeder opposed to a hatchery. I just don't know where to start. I think I'm going to start with white NN and white frizzle. If u know anyone?? Also I want a few white Silkie hens. Every time I've gotten silkies they always end up being Roos. I really want a hen. I've never had a broody chicken.

Duckings should not swim until they are feathered out if they are not raised by the mother. They will get cold like chicks cause they don't have the repelling oil on feathers. I wouldn't take the chance.

Does anyone live close to NYC? Someone emailed me her daughters science project eggs didn't hatch, and she is looking desparately for more eggs , and willing to pay whatever. Needs by tomorrow.

Let me know and I'll pass on her email.

Sho got ahold of me last night too. Pendind payment, I'm overnighting her eggs today :)

There are a lot of breeders out there for silkies, shouldn't be too hard to find someone who will ship chicks or hatching eggs. Are you on any of the groups on FB? There are quite a bit...Original Poultry Bid, Silkies For Sale in the US, New England Poultry & Egg Swap and Sell. That's where I found these birds. A lot of breeders ship too, weather permitting of course.
