NY chicken lover!!!!

I got my BBS Ameraucana eggs!!!! Aaand they're a line from Paul Smith!! Very Excited!!!
I will have extra roos I'm sure from the hatch if anyone is interested.

Ok, how long do I let shipped eggs sit for? is one day good?

Rancher, sorry you got a bad deal on your egg price.

I was thinking that you bought when they were rarer ...not laying as much . ( worth More )
I would ask the seller if they would refund 10.00 . As you bought them when the price was more for them & you didnt get those rarer eggs .
Now they are laying more ...you got these more common eggs .
Is this a Ebay Seller ? Doesnt hurt to ask ? you loose nothing ..you already paid the 10.00
I'm not ticked anymore. Just an immediate response. They reduced the price cuz they have so many eggs. This particular line of Rocks is out of Canada. I can live with it.

Sorry Rancher. It happens way too often unfortunately! I broke down and bought an incubator today, hopefully I have better luck this time. I got one with a fan kit this time so I hope that helps.

Well now I do trade out my roos so I can keep the gene pool deep on my EE's so depending on what it will cost me I might be interested.

As for my deal. No it wasn't a bad deal at all it's just that I just got mine and like shopping for other things I found them on sale afterwards.

We're holding out for a new TV stand at Target. We want it in black but the store only carries it in gray/silver. You know how things like this go. I just never expected it to happen with hatching eggs.

In the future if there is anyone who wants to split and order of some particular eggs let me know. There were some nice Mottled Amers I really liked.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day! It was a little chilly this morning but it's warmed up since. I cleaned the smaller coop and duck hut. The door that I made for it fell off but I have a dog kennel door coming in the mail soon for it. So I cleaned it out and moved it into the Orp run for now. Hopefully nothing will get them inside that run. The door should be here tomorrow.

5 of the 10 Orp eggs that I shipped are developing. That makes me happy. 3 of the Lavender and 2 of the Blue. If the hatch is successful I'll be selling eggs from that trio. Also, since I still have about 14/15 more days left on the duck eggs in the incubator, I decided to leave some eggs in the Orp coop and see if Stella or Nervous Nancy want to go broody. I've already caught Stella in there laying on the two they laid earlier this morning but she got up the minute I came in to add a silkie egg in there. I'm thinking once I close up shop tonight and she see's there still in there I'll wake up to a broody hen. I just don't know if I should continue to add eggs under her or if I should see if she continues to lay more. Right now there are 2 Orp eggs and 2 silkie eggs.

Let them sit for 24 hours, and don't turn them in the incubator for a week. That gives the cells a chance to come together if they separated.

I have to chuckle at the competition for nest boxes. There are four, but everyone liked the top two, and there was a line, and some of the girls would get in there and stay. Then there were problems...so I took one of the wooden eggs and put it in a lower box that I had cleaned out , so that became an acceptable spot to lay, but there are still some who are pokey...so Eunice, a svelt SLW, decided she didn't want to stand in line, so every day she hops the five foot fence, struts around on the other side and ducks over to that cozy corner next to the basement door where she has made a straw nest. She lays her egg, then rejoins the others. There is always one who doesnt conform. I have been finding her eggs there every day.

That is so cute! Last year, when there was still a hay pile in the shed next to my coop, my favourite hen Abbie would escape and lay her eggs in there in a little pit she'd dug out. It was so sweet <3 But unfortunately for her, the hay got all used up over the winter and she has to lay in the real nesting boxes again. :p

UGH! My roo is running out of chances to be a good boy. I was playing with the kids today and I heard him run up behind me. I thought that he was with a hen until I felt him hit the back of my leg. I chased him around then when I couldn't catch him I hit him with a rock. He is going to get some cuddle time tomorrow morning! I wish that I could have cought him then. QUESTION: When do you know if it is just him being a pain because of spring or is he just going to be a nasty bugger?. He has been so good till the last few weeks. I don't know if it is because it is spring or maybe cause my frizzle roo is in there too? The SS is the alpha. DH has already said that if he goes after the kids he is gone. So far he has only gone after me. Today makes 5 times in 2 weeks.

Anyone want to trade for a big Speckle Sussex Roo?!
