We did ok here...we're high enough up in elevation that we're only dealing with soggy fields. But our village is a mess. I haven't been down there, yet, DH told me to stay home and off the roads, but from pictures...man...my heart is so broken for those folks down there. :-(

I've not seen any foxes thank the Lord.

Frenchy has two more babies. B. Maran/EE crosses.

Who was it who had the Raspberries. I thought I was on the list for some.
rancher, Syracuse is a good 3 hr from here and a lousy travel at that but my dil occasionally has to go there or meetings (She works at Met Life) and I would be glad to send more raspberry bushes than you could ever want. I'm going to thin them out this year and try to be more organized. All my fruits have been neglected since Mom got sick with cancer and now that she is in remission, I'm trying to be better. I swear that since I hit 55 a few yrs ago that my stamina is not what it used to be. BTW, I'm praying that your wife's surgery has gone well.

I NEED HELP!!!!! What will kill a chicken and leave it. I've found 2 dead in the last month and not a visible mark on them Today, I had one squawking, ran out to ck, didn't see a thing, went out again 1/2 hour later to refill waterer's and her head was covered with blood. It appears to be the intruder's blood, not hers. We checked her everywhere. DH saw a squirrel go in the little door one time which would explain the diminished egg count at times but the broody's are still in their nests. They are never bothered, it seems. Any ideas??? I'm probably sounding stupid but do squirrels attack chickens. We have 7 crows but I've never seen them bother the girls. I have no idea. We've been outside around the coop all day as DH built a cabin for the silkie mixes.

My prayers to all of you in the flooding last night. I'm just a stones throw from Branchport, Penn Yan and Watkins Glen and we had maybe 3 specs of rain and a few distant rumbles of thunder. Flood watches until Friday for us.

Of it's this hot on just the 13th of May, I'm scared to find out how hot it's going to be come June and July...all my chickens are panting, my rabbits are breathing heavy...ugh poor things :-(

I'm with you sister!!

This is too hot too soon, and I feel almost crazy for complaining with what we just had with the winter that wouldn't die. It just seems like we skipped right over spring this year. It was non-existent. From freezing to broiling. My chickies are also having a bit of time acclimating so quickly to this big heat up, and they are panting when the coop heats up late afternoon / early evening. I had all the windows in there open last night despite the rain and wind. They'll be OK thru that. It's the heat that worries me.
My horse is not completely shed out and is sweating today, too. I think it's supposed to cool down later this week. 60's. Sounds heavenly!

Evening all. Bill signed his termination papers today by way of ambushing me twice while I was busy and my hands were full. He did get my ankle with his spur. Cleaned it good and put some antibiotic ointment on it. He will be in the crock pot in a day or so. I have way too many replacements to put up with that crap. I am still mad and its been a few hours!

Ouch. Hope it's a quick heal with no infection. Bye-bye Bill. You picked the wrong lady to go head to head with (or spur to ankle, anyway)!

METELLA -

those little puff balls are too stinking CUTE!!! It's always fun to see how many different colors and patterns there are in chickens and how they look as chicks.

Hey there Sally - do you think you would have some spare raspberry canes for me? I live down by Potter, so am fairly near..

Rancher....... hope and prayers with you and dw for today.

Would/could you save some for me? We are going up to Stoney Point State Park in August or I could take a road trip some Sunday & meet up with you

August is fine. Just get a hold of me when you are ready.

I have lots so no hurry to get them. I'm sure that there is an appropriate time to dig and replant but I've never been known to follow a book.
