NY chicken lover!!!!

Morning all.... Just wanted to share a picture of my house
sad.png
. We had a tornado whip through here on Thursday (Delanson). Thankfully all of my critters are accounted for!

On the other hand, lots of downed trees, horse fence and one of my chicks runs are in shambles. Looks like we need a new roof and siding.
Glad to hear you are all okay ...Your Family & the critters ...I hope you have insurance that should help with the repairs

They have chicks
- they have what they need in their feed . I found a link before ..Cant find it now

Tomorrow is moving day - my chicks will go outside into the chicken tractor =). I am so excited and can't wait ti watch them explore their new territory. Also on tomorrows list is buying more feed, start the first fermented batch and get some grit. Then once they are out of the "nest" I will have to clean my now very dust garage.
So much other cleaning to do also I could use 6 hands and 2 heads =).

Hello everyone. I am new to this thread and I'm enjoying reading the posts.
Welcome ....
Perfect day for planting and my allergies have kicked in full swing. :-( So now I'm stuck laying out on my porch and enjoying this view:

Can you take a antihistamine?
Our ducks -The drake papa is a Khaki Campbell and they could have come from 1 rouen hen, 1 khaki hen, or two golden hybrid hens - so it could be any sort of that mix

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone in orange, putnam, or Westchester county have any easter eggers/ ameraucanas, salmon faverolles, russian orloffs, welsummers, or cuckoo marans pullets for sale. Between the ages of two months old to a year (I would prefer 17 weeks old). I've been searching Craigslist for months and I'm ready to give up! Thanks!
There was someone in Ulster county that was advertising Russian Orloffs for sale. Check that craigslist.

Welcome to our humble world! How can we enable,er help you? What kind of chickens do you have?

Morning all! Sunny here and loving it. I released the silkies to freerange this morning. Stripe is now sitting on eggs next to Sassy so three broody silkies sitting on eggs. The boys are down to one girl being out with them. The terrorists were out last night enjoying themselves and throwing it in the brats face by walking around their coop/run and scratching around. The brats looked so cute lined up along the fencing looking longingly at them. Cant let the two groups mingle yet as I am pretty sure the terrorists would try to kill them. I have to say that my heritage reds are one of the friendliest birds ever. They are always the first to come and greet me and generally get in the way of everything I do in their coop. I have a couple of girls who just love attention and took advantage of dh when he let them out the other day by sitting on his lap and being petted. I want to get my hands on the roos but they are a little standoffish yet.

After a relaxing week in the fridge, Bill is enjoying a nice day in the crockpot hot tub. He had an invigorating garlic and herb rubdown first before reclining on a bed of carrots and onions. All of these things are supposed to bring out the best in him. I'll let you know how well that worked out for him after dinner.

Off to the pharm again. Stuck with a horrible covering and having to be super vigilant. Enjoy the day for me!

Hello everyone. I am new to this thread and I'm enjoying reading the posts.
Welcome! I am new too and can tell you that everyone here is really great. There are a lot of different threads about a lot of topics with lots of helpful information. If you can't find what you are looking for, just ask and someone here can either answer or point you to the right thread (at least this is how it seems to work for me =) )

So my meat-chicks and 6 layers spent their first night outside last night in the new chicken tractor. Husband is happy having his garage back. I am happy the smell is out of the garage and house =) the chicks are happy about the extra room and fresh air I bet so overall a win win! This coming week I will get the chicken coop that I ordered. Can't wait - I really cant!. It will be so nice to have it all set up and permanent. Bought a new bag of chick food that I will ferment today (or at least some of it) just as soon as I can find a suitable container.
Hope ya'll have a great day.

You crack me up :D

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have 3 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Black Australorps both 4 year olds and 3 barred rocks and 1 RIR (3years old) with 1 americauna rooster and 5 hens (1 year old). I started hatching chicks this spring in an incubator in attempt to get some lavender orpingtons. I bought 6 fertile eggs and one hatched so I now have a Lavender pullet 4 weeks old today. I also just hatched 23 BBS and ameracauna and some OE chicks. I am keeping a black hen and the others are going to a friend (Just starting with chickens). My second attempt at hatching was with Lavender fertile eggs. I had a temperature spike and lost most of the eggs :(. A real expensive lesson!!) I am enjoying reading everyone's posts. Thanks so much for the welcome!
