What eggs did you get at the chickenstock?Welcome, Hugz! I'm in Mexico! Its nice to have more Oswego County folk here!
I was so tired last night I forgot to shut my coops! Luckily everyone is still accounted for! Sold 15 guinea keets and 11 mixed chicks yesterday. Now I have lots more brooder spacemy 2 dozen eggs from chicken stock go into lock down today so that make more room in my incubator! Just need to get my hands on a couple dozen eggs to put in it
I'm crazy I know!!![]()
i covered my run with fencing, about 65 bucks a roll at TSC, how big is your run?I didn't think so... Some of my friends suggested it. Idk what to do
You could move her dishes a little closer to the run each day and then one day into the run. Sneak out and shut the door.
How early can I do the water test to check the eggs to see if they might hatch. Do I have to wait till they eggs are due or overdue? Can I do them earlier? How early? My eggs are due to hatch in about 5 days? I'm trying to leave it up to my broodies, but they are first timers so I'm worried...and I'm impatient!
If your eggs are under broodies leave them be. Brooded eggs hatch when they hatch. 21 day is not a hard and fast rule. They will not all hatch at the same time just like incubated eggs. Even with an incubator eggs can hatch past the 21st day. I've had them hatch over a period of 4 days. Some even start a day early.
If you have candled them and they're good then I'd wait. How many are there? If a lot then you could take the first few chicks to a brooder and when she's done return them to her.
Some folks mess with a broody hen but she will most likely take care of things herself. Unless you see a problem just let her do what she's born to do.
I'm not sure what you mean by "water" test. I've never heard of such a thing except to see if an eggs is old.
