Miquwid: the two Orp hen-Stella and her daughter are with LuvMyChicks, Gru is with my friend who raises rabbits and chickens and alpacas. The barred rock I rehomed last year so I could focus more on getting purebred chicks. The ducks were also rehomed because I knew if I ever wanted to get back into ducks I could get more runner la from ke5hde. ;-)

I'm so behind on reading threads again but this past week end realized how badly we have mites. So, started dusting, marked each leg with a zip strip, each time using a different color so know which ones to grab 7 days later. I hate mites!! Everything is so wet from frequent rains and probably doesn't help.

BTW....My mother passed away this morning. She had lymphoma and kicked that but has had several heart attacks along with difficulty in breathing. She couldn't kick the last heart attack. I will miss her so much.
I am so sorry about the loss of your mom.

Lynzi that is cool I glad things are working out for you! Though I will miss stories about Mr. Gru!

Rancher is that large for a hen? Like I said before this is my first broody hen and hatch which she did all on her own and is nothing short of a great mama. We saw her catch a spider and give it to her babies. So now we have broody hen number two, we had to put a cup over her head to to get the eggs away from her LOL and guess what she is an Amber Sex Link as well. She gets no eggs right now unless she is super persistant. We will see.

It was really hot a bit too hot to work with the dogs much so they had a break today. We cleaned up the coops and didn't have much time left so no skate today. But there is always time for squats, lunges, sit ups. planks, and push ups!!!

we introduced my other chicks well now chickens to the flock they did fine.

Duckers are great getting big.

Good night!!

Heres a Chicken Story

My husband put up a picket fence to keep the chickens out of our Deck Grill area ..

We allow Ti Ti & babies in there for protection

the other Chickens found a hole on the side to squeeze through ..he closed up the hole.
They jumped over the top at the Gate ...He put wire on the top of the gate ...they still jumped on it & came in .

So he took some plastic wire & attached it to the top of the fence thinking that would stop them

Well they found another way ..

they jump on the bilco ...then the generator and over the fence he has since moved the generator ..lol Mission Acomplished !

Gramma Chick - You'd think so ... that's what the US docs who are older and the drug companies say .... but I had to do some hard research and that is NOT the best or fastest diet to set the internals back on track ...

As much grass fed meat as I want - the more the better as it reverses hardening of the arteries ... that's right - but it has to be grass fed - all the research that the "old-time" docs go on is feed lot beef and it has a nutrient profile that is as different as a different species. That beef is almost toxic. Then no pre-made packaged food, and easy on the sugar and carbs ... not cutting them out - just easy.

Then, yes - as many veggies and fruits as I like. Green tea and Co Q10 with lots of vit C
Makes since - Grass fed chickens eggs have lower cholesterol..

Stoneys sumatras have hatched out 13 chicks & they are alot smaller of a chicken

I know there are folks on here with silkies sooooo...

Boy or girl? The neighbor gave him to me and said he's a cockerel. He's basing that on comb size. But this bird lacks the streamers that silkie males tend to have. He carries himself more like a hen. And you can't really base sex on comb size, can you?

ETA: I'm really not sure how old this bird is. I *think* he was hatched this spring. But I'll have to ask the neighbor.
