NY chicken lover!!!!

We got some snow overnight. Kids got a snow day. We are at about 8 inches now but the weather man said that there might be more snow coming so who know what they final total will be, expected around 12 or so. Went out to shovel the chicken run. I really need a small snow blower to do it. Maybe next year. They weren't happy that they had to stay cooped up this morning longer then normal, but they wouldn't have been very happy with all that snow. They have barley a third left of the run that I haven't piled with snow. Really need it to warm up. Glad that I still have a bunch of that wood chip stuff cause I have a feeling with all this snow it is going to be a wet spring.

Fredo and his girls have adjusted nicely. He is a big baby. The girls will come out right away in the morning to eat and drink, He takes a while before he remembers that he has to come out to eat and drink.

Stumbled across an idea when I was looking for something to use our old baby crib for. I was planning on turning it into a desk or something, but this is such a better idea!

I can so do this! Trying to decide if I should make it into a chick brooder, Breeding pair coop, or a rabbit hutch. My sister said that I can have her crib too. And with Drop side cribs illegal to sell for a baby, I'm sure that I can get some more real cheap or even for free! I so can see a small pigeon house...I can see a whole line of these in the yard...DH and I better get the old barn cleared, I'm going to need the space to set them all up along with my Turkey coop!!
Trying to be happy right now. Got some sad news that my husband favorite aunt passed this morning. I hate having to call him when he is out on the road. I try not to call with bad news if I can help it, but I wouldn't want to be told on Thursday that my aunt died on Monday. She lives just down the road and we love to pop in for a visit from time to time. Her husband grew up in our house. It was his family farm when it was built. We will miss her terribly!
This reminded me of my kids crib. It had the toe pull typer that lowered the side. My middle child would wait until the younger one was standing up and leaning on the rail, and then pull the lever, the side would fall down, and the baby would fall out on her head. Took me a while to figure out how she was falling out, until one day I caught the middle one doing it...got rid of that crib in a hurry....laugh about it now, but I was mortified when I saw it happen...

That is so stinking cool. I need to make some of those for broody houses.

I have her in the basement now where it's probably 55 degrees. I thought the 70 degree guest room was too warm (and smelly!).
I think after being outside for her whole life, 55 is probably toasty!! Have her in a Rubbermaid tote with food & electrolyte water. She ate and drank today but seems (understandably) sore. Poor girl! She's a good patient!

Sounds like the perfect set-up! I think she will do just fine - they are so resilient!

Ok I am dyeing to hatch here and my freeloaders are giving me just barely enough to bake with let alone hatch anyone have any hatching eggs? Don't matter what they are but would love more easter eggers, olive eggers, and orpingtons but like I said don't matter can even be mixes that's ok will just throw them in with the egg layers eventually.

Hi
I can sell you some fertile MIXED eggs. I am about 1/2 hour south of Syracuse. I am getting about 24 eggs per day. I have 4 roosters in with my hens.
A white sex link, a pure Delaware, a pure buff Braham, and a Rhodebar. I have hens to match these roosters but no way currently to set up separate
breeding rooms so the chicks would be purebreds. As soon as this weather breaks , I will be setting up my incubator and I will have something in place
so I can get some purebred chicks. Send me a PM , if I can be of help to you. I don't put eggs in the mail.
I do have Ameracuana pullets close to laying but not there yet. I will be borrowing or buying a rooster to mate with them.
I also have buff orpingtons hens but I just sold the matching roosters.

That is one reason I think that they are not being sold anymore. Your not supposed to be using them anymore. I guess to many kids got their heads stuck somehow in the side and got hurt. Didn't stop me from using one for both of my kids...Is Sue your youngest? That would explain a lot

Where abouts are you? I live in DeRuyter.

Travis and I stopped by Nutty's on sunday to pick up a bag of feed to try. I talked her husband's ear off. They have a really nice business started there. The plans for the NY chickenstock sound pretty good, which reminds me.....I have to check out the threads for both stocks.

I am about 6 miles from Cortland. You can PM if you want to about eggs.

I don't understand this website. The last 2 times using it, it wants me to download something.
So I have to shut down entirely to escape the page. The only option it was giving me is to
okay the download and no I am not going to do that.
