So what size spiral leg bands would you put on a barred rock, white rocks usually take 12- I'm crazy and color code my birds :-/ and I'm wondering size 11 or 12 ? Anyone know? Are they smaller? And does anyone know where to get pink in 12 ... Sigh lol... First world problems

I use sz 12 on all my hens except the smaller ones. I have Australorps, BR's, BLRW's, EE's,

I use sz 14 on my roosters - Australorps, Orpingtons, SLW's

I designate a color each year, that way I know how old my birds are. If I have the same breed from 2 different sources, each source gets its own color and the bird still gets the color of the year too.

Hehe that's exactly what I do! I do use 11 on smaller birds but maybe I should just use 12 as often as possible. I will check out that source

All three roosters are in the basement. Earl and his two ladies are waiting for a good time to return to the coop, the two boys and Fawn are waiting for their ride tomorrow. If my husband can get through tonight, I will only sing his praises.

In all the years I have been shipping eggs & chicks, not once did anyone ask me for my NPIP. The PO doesn't care. 

Yea the PO doesn't care, it's each individual state. And apparently shipping INTO CT is a huge ordeal, you need to notify the commissioner, who then places a quarantine on your birds, you have to send in paperwork, get tests done and the. Wait for his OK on your imported birds. Now, does everyone do that? Absolutely not. All I'm saying is, I'm not wasting my time going thru all I need to go thru in order to become NPIP, forget that! Lol

oh and that site totally has ALL THE BANDS :-D I was thinking pink on the laying hens and blue on the Roos maybe too, that way its very clear what's going on out there

are they caged ? Throw a Blanket over them ...the more darkness the quieter they will be
