NY chicken lover!!!!

While I'm waiting for hatch days (which start Wednesday), I'm trying to prepare for extra chicks. I set enough eggs that I could accommodate at least half. If I get a better than half hatch rate I might need to sell chicks before Chicken Stock. I have seen a variety of prices for chicks depending on breed. I value your opinions, so what do you consider fair price for day-olds? I am not hatching any super rare breeds. The most popular breed I'm hatching is Black Copper Marans. If you don't want to discuss this publicly, I understand. Please PM me if you have any tips for me. Thanks! I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, but I don't want to be unprepared either. 38 eggs are left in the bator and lockdown starts tomorrow.

Well ...my honey is escaping too .. Ive never seen honey act like this ...Maybe it is more water / liquid than normal ? at room temp even heated it doesnt mix in it still stays separated with a foam on top I have honey I bought a year ago from her... it hasnt done anything like this Its fermenting ...I skimmed off the foam after I heated it . http://www.kimesapiary.com/Fermentation.html Pharm - It seems the coons like to visit around midni every night according to the game cam. They can't get into the coops but do snoop around to see if there is any food available. I make it a point to keep my yard extra clean now that they and the bear have been around. Treats are only little bits that get cleaned up quick. GRAMMA - One Visited us last night around 2;00...I was so surprized to see it I just yelled "get out of here " in my worst growly voice . I threw out some feed in the garden ( bag was molding ) too damp in the bilco . .I think I am going to showel it up & put it way in the back of our lot ..dont need to attract predators to the coop
I love raw honey. I've never seen this before. I wonder why it happened.

Hi everyone! Hope all is well! I was wondering if anyone would be interested in some Ancona/Rouen ducklings. My Ancona hatched a clutch of 16 eggs! They're only 2 weeks old right now, and I think I'm going to start selling them around 4 weeks old. They're located in Putnam Valley NY (zip code is 10579). Thanks!

How likely is it to be able to tell the sex of a bantam silver laced Cochin/sizzle at 5 weeks seems very henish to me but maybe that is me just hoping lol, out of the 4 millies (6 1/2ish weeks) I am pretty positive it is 2 and 2

Allow me.

I bury things in the compost so as not to attract critters. I once dumped a whole bag of peat moss over far to many wasted Wall Eye and never have a problem.

I don't know if the coons are coming round but I leave the squirrels a special treat in the winter so they don't come back. Those buggers were scaring the chickens and going into the run to steal food.

I say kill'em, kill'em all.

They are adorable - I wish I lived closer.......

I get local raw honey all the time and I've never saw that. Honey is supposed to stay good for centuries isn't it? I've had it crystallize, and just put the jar under hot tap water and it returned to normal. And we always keep ours on the counter, not cool.
