Pyxis...How are your little survivors doing?

Just wanted to give you all an update on my sister. She had been doing good was supposed to come home today, but last night her lung collapsed again. They have decided that the only choice that they have right now is to operate and remove the weak section of her lung that is causing the the lung to collapse. So first thing tomorrow morning she goes into surgery. I'm really freaking out on the inside, but don't want her to see how upset I am. I have become the rock of the family and I have always been there for my sisters so I have to be strong for her and my unborn niece.

Luv, ur sister is so fortunate to have u there by her side. I'm sure just your presence there is very comforting to her. Sending energy hugs & strength you way.

I do not treat unless there are symptoms or I see bugs. Just so you know, Ivermectin is not a 'chicken' drug. It's use in chickens is 'off label' and I believe there is a withdrawal period.
I'd quote you all, but I'm on my phone. Thank you, all, for your regimen information. I have wood ash available for bathing, somewhat deep litter (on concrete barn floor so not typical), and use DE under my nest boxes. The lime goes on the floor to combat dampness but doesn't seem to make a difference so I fluff in dry litter every week or so. So, I guess I haven't decided about anything yet. Thank you again!
Lime are you talking about?
Dolomitic lime may be used as a soil input to provide similar effects as agricultural lime, while supplying magnesium in addition to calcium. In livestock farming, hydrated lime can be used as a disinfectant measure, producing a dry and alkaline environment in which bacteria do not readily multiply. In horticultural farming it can be used as an insect repellent, without causing harm to the pest or plant.

I use natural things for their insides ....

these go in their treats occasionally
Garlic , Onion , (we eat a lot onions so the scraps go in their treats all the time ) Cayenne Pepper , Pepper Flakes , Plantain leaves & seeds .
For their outside I have never used anything ...
When I first had chickens I bought some DE ..to dust them with ...they were more interested in dust bathing in the regular dirt ..
Almost Daily ...
It seemed to take care of cooties ...Ive never seen any on any of them ever ...
One year we had fruit flies in the coop ...I sprayed reg Isopropyl alcohol & water in there .

Sorry for the slow chick update! Crazy long day at work today.

The chicks are hanging in there. They were both pasted up today, the one that was covered in poop and almost dead more so than the other, so I took care of that. Otherwise, they are eating and drinking well. I've banded them with different color leg bands so I can tell them apart as they grow.

This is 'poopy chick' who has a purple leg band. I may name it Nightmare after the ordeal that was its first few days of life.

This is the other one that wasn't as bad off. It got a pink leg band.

Which Nintendo are you looking for? There are lots now - Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, NES, Super Nintendo...and those are just the ones that hook up to a tv! There are tons of handhelds also.

If you're looking for a Wii, you can get a refurbished one fairly inexpensively (as far as game systems are concerned) from the Gamestop website. That's what I did when my original one stopped playing discs. You can also check craigslist under video games - sometimes you can find a good deal there.

Last week got my first Silver Spitz egg! Then JJ has been laying steady every day since ! Hoping the second pullets starts soon .... I checked and except for the first egg - they are fertile ! Go Spencer !!! What a good Roo.

I have heritage turkeys and they breed very well. Bourbon Red, Sweetgrass, and the darker ones are a mix of the two. They are all very tame and friendly and good egg layers early spring (snow still on the ground) through mid summer. Right now I have 16 and would like to sell some of them.
I may be interested in some eggs in spring. I would like to run a test hatch being I have never hatched turkeys before. My friend asked me if I could hatch some royal palms if he bought the eggs. I don't want to mess it up.
