NY chicken lover!!!!

Gramma Chick, I was actually thinking of asking you if there was a way to tell... lol you read my mind. I honestly have no idea which girl it was. So I will flip a bunch... haha. I tried to candle them, but it was not easy... I either need practice or a darker room and brighter light.

HAHa...what you looking for ? a baby chick ? a fresh egg probably wont have anything you can see.
Nothing will form in it unless it is set on 24 /7 by a hen .
You can check to see if it is fertile when you crack it open to eat it ...
They should be safe to eat as a unwashed egg has its own anti bacterial seal

You could also cook them and feed them back to your chickens.
This just makes no sense. Why have chickens at all if you're not needing the hard work they do to lay eggs.

I have friends with kids I donate eggs too. I remember what it was like when we had young kids. As long as your eggs are clean and healthy you should have no trouble selling them. Anything is better than a total loss.

Well, first hen I picked up was pink and puckery... Henrietta, the one that follows my two year old everywhere. I'll check the rest later... the eggs were adorable. I cooked them over easy and set them on a fine China plate. The yolks were the size of pennies.

Oh, I was just trying to learn to candle and see if I could see the veining described in my book. I didn't expect much and the eggs were very tiny. I did see Lord Sterling attempting to mount this morning. Not sure he's got it quite right. Kinda like an 8th grade boy at a dance... making the moves, all hormones, awkward and eager, and denied each time.

that was my plan to give to families with kids. Make no mistake, I appreciate every egg we get. However my husband is being all picky about selling or giving away until he fixes our insurance to farm not homeowners. Next month I have no problem giving them and selling them. Just at this point I can't put a sign out so I figured if anyone here could use them great there will be no waste.

Don't jump to judgment it's rude.

Like she said she is not comfortable selling them or giving them away yet, but does not want to wast them. Feeding them back to your chickens gives them a protien bossy which I like in the winter when there are no insects or during molt. Also if you were feeding eggs on a regular basis you could probably drop down to cheaper lower protien feed and save some money that way. The ideal is to sell them but for now I fell this was an option she might want to have.

Oh my. Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. A way to not waste them until I can sell.
