NY chicken lover!!!!

We had a hawk visit a little bit ago. We heard distress sounds, I looked out the window and a hawk was sitting on the outdoor roost about 12 feet from the open door to the coop. The flock was all inside, my husband went out first, but didn't see anything. Bella the Newf and I went out a second later and I saw flapping wings at the back chainlink fence. Didn't see any chickens back there, but couldn't count the flock since everyone was hiding. I think everyone is there.

that was my plan to give to families with kids. Make no mistake, I appreciate every egg we get. However my husband is being all picky about selling or giving away until he fixes our insurance to farm not homeowners. Next month I have no problem giving them and selling them. Just at this point I can't put a sign out so I figured if anyone here could use them great there will be no waste.

Rather I was trying to be encouraging. If you want to wait for insurance to donate eggs that's fine.

I'm sure many of us who do donate and sell eggs don't have insurance. So far as I know, no members here have been sued for selling eggs.

Like she said she is not comfortable selling them or giving them away yet, but does not want to wast them. Feeding them back to your chickens gives them a protien bossy which I like in the winter when there are no insects or during molt. Also if you were feeding eggs on a regular basis you could probably drop down to cheaper lower protien feed and save some money that way. The ideal is to sell them but for now I fell this was an option she might want to have.

I'm not taking offense, you said you did not understand how it makes sense, I was just trying to help you understand. Now we are all on the same page.

Yes I am absolute on the insurance as they know we have chickens and have already given us verbal notice if we sell, donate or give eggs we lose coverage. They have rules for a reason and normally I could care less but my insurance is very important to me. If my barn burns I lose a lot, not just 20 chickens. Therefore I must keep my insurance company happy. Heck, once I change coverage my agent is a customer just not until.

I have done this ...make them some scrambled eggs when we have excess .
I figure the protein is going to come back out anyway ..
I wouldnt worry about fresh eggs spoiling ...store eggs are a month old when you buy them ..
By that standard they should be good for 2 months

The other Blue is a americana she lays brown eggs ...from Cass.<---anyone heard from her ?
Both girls were broody for me last year
