NY chicken lover!!!!

You women crack me up Lol!
Hey, a home isn't a home unless you can pee in your back yard without getting arrested, I don't think I could ever live 'in town'.

Someone mentioned winter hatching a little bit back..im trying it! Tired of looking for blue eggs- so gonna try and make my own! Got EE x EE, Leghorn & Legbar in the bator now..among others. One or all these crosses should bring in the blue...becoming blue obsessed as i keep seeing hints of green in my eggs! Could be my eyes..

I just hatched chicks a couple weeks ago, some silkies and green and blue egg layers! The babies are in my basement in a brooder but once they're a bit older I'll out them in a dog crate inside the cool with the mama brooder heating pad idea.

I'm still on the mend its been 2 weeks today that I've had the surgery. Had another episode of bleeding last night, must just be a scab that keeps coming off to early. Doctor just says I'm back on cold liquids only, worth it to not have any more bleeding hopefully! Wish it was not so cold!!

Why men only?? I live in the country, I'll cop a squat if I have to... or get a she-wee. I'm acting mother and father here now... I'll eat more beef, asparagus, etc. Less water, that should stink it up
Well you do as you want, but the idea is to spray the area. You might want to wet your pants and hang them from a tree.

Though, I would not be amiable to DW do such a thing as "marking".

I've considered hanging my son in laws socks out there. The reek!

I suppose sweaty and dirty human smelling clothes would work as well. It's really about the human scent that would drive them away.

I do hope things improve quickly.

Anyone want to share, how you manage your greens in the garden? How do you ensure having greens all year long?

See I plan to grow our greens, salad fixins and what not. I'd like to reduce the percentage we buy during the year.

I know Kale and some others freeze well. Lettuce on the other hand not so much.

I'm still picking fresh kale from the garden, stuffs amazing. Shake the snow off and it's still like fresh. Cabbage stores a long time, chickens got over 30 heads already. I didn't take good care of them in storage. Had them in our back room, froze, too warm, froze again, chickens loved them though and we did eat a few heads back when I picked them so not a big loss. Swiss chard freezes good same with spinach. I think the only option for lettuce would be inside in the winter, I'll wait for summer. I heard you can harvest fresh greens from stored beets in winter, we always can them or pickle.
