Hello all! I popped in briefly a while ago and then vanished again. It's been pretty busy over here. The new house closed yesterday and we officially own it. We're talking to a lawyer about splitting our current property into two lots so we can keep the one that has our workshop and I can keep my birds there. So hopefully that goes through!

I also lost my ayam cemani rooster, Raptor :( Not sure what happened there. Hopefully one of my GFF chicks grows up to be a good replacement. They are gorgeous so far, so fingers crossed. That still leaves me without a rooster for a few months while they mature unless I can locate one in the meantime.

I've also noticed that the web-based BYC site has become awful in loading. I often check in at lunch time at work, some days I can't get the page to load at all or takes several minutes. Being a govt computer, we can't mess with software or settings. At home I have the app on my iPod and it works great.

Luv, if you are interested in hatching, I have a bunch of my mix eggs setting aside. Not all are going to fit in the incubator with all the others I have coming.

Luv I don't know if this will help you at all but I have 3 healthy BSL's you can have free. "Dinner" (because she's a naughty girl, & she is often threaten with being made just that) lays a JUMBO egg almost every day and her 2 sister hens "Lunch" and "Breakfast" lay an extra large egg almost every day. They will be 1 yr old May 6th of this coming spring. I would be happy to give you these girls if it would help at all. I don't know where you live, but I live in Rome, NY all you need do is pick the girls up. Let me know if this would help.
You are very sweet. I appreciate your offer and if we were a little closer I would take you up on it. I live by Syracuse which isn't that far really, but I can't get out to you any time soon... Maybe Chickenstock if you are coming?

The other thing is that I am trying to catch the bugger that did it. I would hate to get some more hens and then have the same thing happen again..I don't think that I cold handle it. I'm picking up some more welded wire tomorrow so I can fix the one area where it got in.

My current incubator is filled with duck eggs. I just ordered a second incubator

but it won't be here till next week. Once I get it and get it up and running I will need to get some eggs for it. I have the last eggs that my girls laid and I'm thinking about trying to set them first. I know that they will be over a week old, but I feel like I owe it to the girls to try!

Congratulations!!! We just closed in November and boy oh boy!!! What an endeavor. I'm sorry about your rooster but I wanted to say you still have 5 weeks of fertile eggs possibly!!! Collect and hatch everything! If you would like I am happy to incubate and hatch for you! I'm in Garrison near route 6 on the east side of the river, I am half hour south of Fishkill (blue seal feed and supply). Just let me know!

I've got some 6 weekish (hatch day Jan 15 2016) silver spangled appenzeller spitzhauben and some silkies. I'm putting a call out to see who might be interested in the next two weeks I should have it down as to who I'm keeping (one hen or two of 7 spitz and 5 silkies) so available will be 4 spitzhauben and possibly all 5 silkies (I can't decide)

If you live north I'm happy to meet you at blue seal in Fishkill, I'm thinking $10 each but if you take all of them I'll make a deal. PM me for more info. (Really truly it's just that my husband sees a full incubator and is pushing me to reduce the keep...

Some of the spitz look very sop type some not but obviously have good genetics...

I have 12 dozen in the fridge, plus an 18 pack on the counter for filling the incubator. I can keep setting aside the best eggs each day if you would like some extras to hatch. Free of charge.

Golly, I haven't been on here In a dogs age. Got to busy with the holidays and daughters first birthday that my forum visit got put off. All my girls and boys are surviving such a nice winter. Just received 15 australorps a month ago to add to the family. A couple weeks ago I landed a shed from home depot on clearence that I am converting to the new hen hotel. I hope everyone's winter has been as productive as mine. Ya can't beat the 40-50º temps.
Good night all!

Thanks! It's a great house, just in the middle of town, lol. Not crazy about that part.

I wish the hens were laying, if they were I'd totally hatch! But they stopped about a month ago so I'm out of luck there :( Otherwise the incubator would be up and running already!
