NY chicken lover!!!!

how old are they ? Are they fully feathered ?as it might be too early to move them ...unless they have some heat out there ?

The pullets are 7 weeks this Wednesday and the cockerel is 9 weeks on Thursday. He's totally feathered and the girls are mostly feathered but still have some down. With the weather being in the 50s and 60s I figured they'd be fine but I was planning on bringing them inside for nights colder than 40. Now it's only 25 out during the day there's no way I'd subject them to that.

Tell me more about what you feed them
Once in a while a hen will throw a weird egg after laying for a while.
If it continues she may have a internal problem .
They get fermented feed- I had them on grower starter for the higher protein in the winter, but just switched to layer to finish up the last of a bag I had from the fall. I'm planning to do starter grower after this since I'll be getting a few chicks soon. The bag of layer is the Tractor Supply brand (Dumore, I think?), and they were on it last fall too...
They also get about a cup of scratch or BOSS every afternoon.
They get the occasional kitchen scraps, but always in the afternoon so I know they have gotten their regular FF in first.
Headed out now to sweep them a path, pretty sure they wont even come out of the coop today. We got almost a foot of snow, but the forecast was for 3"! Ugh.

ETA They also get grit and oyster shells thrown in the pen a couple times a week.

Tab Lovwe the Kitchen ab Tabb

I finally got caught up. I wanted to post a kitchen update. Life is still as busy as ever. I have a feather club meeting later, tons of laundry to fold, a school project to help with, fence fixing, need to start seeds yet, and the list goes on.........
My first hatch of the season is due monday, put the eggs in lock down last night.

Gramma I hope you're healing well and i am sorry for your losses.

Congrats to Luv.

Well wishes to everyone else.

Oh and the up north chickenstock that i thought was going to happen this year isn't happening. Something came up and she can't host, such is life.
Tab, What a beautiful kitchen. I have a refrigerator like yours. It is Super. Looks very functional.
ENJOY. Regards, Aria

Oh come on Mr.Winter stop with the snow already. I want to uncover my garden and keep it that way. I want fresh vegetables! !
Even when we don't think we're sexist we are aren't we?

You see Mr. Winter and I see Mother Nature.

Doesn't matter who the heck is behind it, Mr. Winter, Mother Nature, Jack Frost or God it's still not funny.

Did mentions I sold some chicks and eggs. Sold two pullets. The EE and C. Rock. Now the Marans was running up and down outside the Del run as she's all alone. I may just let her in there since the Dels don't mind the odd bird. The C. Rocks didn't either but they're all gone.

I gave the money to my DD who is saving for a wedding. Even though Sean has not put a ring on her finger. He needs a better paying job.

I do have more chicks to go though so please stop by. I have a taker for one Daisy pullet/hen but I hate to end up with just the rooster.

The incu is washed but I'm reluctant to give it up since God only knows if I'll not hatch again. I've got to keep an eye on Frenchy and her eggs.

Folks just want one or two birds but I'd prefer them go as a lot. The marans may have to go cheap since their butts are dirty but whatever was the problem is fixed. I'll have to bring them in to wash them otherwise but this weather at I've started out is not coopperating. I'd like to book our flights to AK, though money is tight. I miss my GK's and need to get away.

I'd still need someone to take care of the Delawares, but come Nov. and Dec. I'd need all the chickens gone or hire someone to come and stay.

Why couldn't I have been born rich, instead of handsome?

Rancher, when my ship comes in, I'll probably be at the airport, Hicks
