NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi @rcentner
you are very close to me! I live in the York area. I just put a bunch of eggs in our incubator today! We've had chickens for about 6 years and currently have a small flock of 5 hens and two roosters. When did you get started and how big is your flock?
I am considering attending the mini chickestock in CNY in May - have you heard about it? I do wish it was closer, so it's great to meet chicken people who are closer.
hi Lizzy, wow, I must have posted that years ago, around 5yrs or so! I used to be on here all the time. Then I had my son and that took over my world...still does!
What kind of chickens do you have. A cny chicken stock?! Sounds cool.

Are there any WNY peeps with barred rock fertile eggs for sale? My BR too died last year and I miss him dearly!

Good morning. The forecast is looking up. I'm more optimistic about this week than last week. I had been quite grumpy for the past couple weeks so this change is welcome.

My flock is well right now. They'll be confined a bit this week to keep the roosters from waking up DH who's working nights. They seem to tolerate it well. I'd like to rearrange the barn already but that's going to have to wait.

I think I'll start some more tomato plants today.

Beercan and others with night cameras: what do you recommend? I have security cameras but they don't cover a couple nooks of my property. I'd like to price out some options. Would that be considered a farm expense? (Tax Brain has taken over as I'm trying to decipher whether I'll be a hobby or business this year. I'm tracking records both ways.)
a As long as the cameras are to keep your animals, vegetation or other "farm" production "equipment " then yes it's farm expense. If it's for watching where the wildlife lays at night than no its a hobby expense.

I'm in the west side of Elmira.
We could possibly build it here and deliver. You are to far off for us to build on site . If you want to send me size and such of what you want? Do you want it made of rough cut lumber or pressure treated frame with T-111 siding? Or send me a pic of your idea and my husband and I can get a quote drawn up for you. Do you want it raised off the ground on pillars or do you want it ground level?

Download malwarebytes, it'll help you out. To unistall the stuff you already have, you need to go into the control panel, go to uninstall a program, find all the programs that are causing problems, and uninstall them from there.

Thanks! just downloaded free version and ran it, took a hour, but computer back to normal

About any trail cam works great now days, they've been improving them for yrs now. A $50 model at WalMart, Dick's, wherever, was top of the line $$ technology a few yrs ago. I'd like to buy a new one, mine's a $50 model a few yrs ago and takes great pics and video day and night, even has a hook up for ac cord. But for a security cam it has a bunch of infrared LEDs that either flash red or glow red in video, not visible if you are not looking straight at it, but if you are looking towards it you notice it. I'd like to get one with invisible black IR LED's. Make sure you shop around, there is still some low MP no video cams out there, for the same price you can get a good one with more MP. At night mine also has a limited range unless it has new batteries in it. 20 yrds maybe, 30 is pushing it. Daytime pics are great.
Buddy of mine has one that e-mails him pics, he paid $ for it and a monthly fee though.
