NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi.
Nutty, great deal on bators. I'll have to think about it.
Chicken girl and beer can, please find a way to produce a sustainable healthy locally sourced meat chicken. My experience with cx was not good. I know the mistakes i made, and have decided not to try that again. If I find a way to improve one of my barns (financial limitations right now), I'd like to dedicate part of it to growing out meat birds.
@Chicken girl 15 how's Girlie? Would you be interested in a Brabanter cockerel?
My flocks are well. I'm getting to a happy point in maintenance and management. Never done, but content with the direction for now. The garden is ok. Cucumber beetles and other very happy bugs and weeds in there. My attempt at natural remedies is only failing because of my lack of effort, I'm guessing. Neem oil and Safer 123 worked temporarily. Oh well, I'm still battling and look forward to not repeating the same mistakes next year.

Flies. Ugh. My kids have left our doors open a lot today and all I hear are buzzing flies.

I just got a new rabbit a little bit ago too. He's so little yet. I let DH name him so his name is now "Bocephus"... I introduced him to his future girlfriend for a few minutes. I think she likes him already ;) I can't wait to have my first litter of Flemish Giants!
He's gorgeous! Although 'little' makes me laugh a little since he is a Flemish giant - Oreo is smaller than him at four months old and likely not getting much bigger! The one I picked up yesterday (who needs to named) is already almost her size at nine weeks old.

Just done with hatching scaled back to 8 chickens figure when I need new ones I'll just buy some egg layers from tractor supply. No point in them sitting around collecting dust. I'm not into fancy breeds anymore they are just for food that is it. Besides I kept a couple Brinsea 2 20's and a 40 plus a Hovabator just in case I decide to get back into it

I'll most likely sell my Genesis, since I'm getting tired. Too, broody hens do pretty good. I've got 22 chicks and expect at least a couple more. But I understand about TSC. I considered giving up the roosters or most of them and just ordering from a hatchery all pullets.

While I still have three C. Rock pullets I sold the rooster and hens a while ago. Now I'm looking at selling the B. Marans. That will leave me Dels and EE/OE's. plus the odd frizzle and hen in C. rocks and Marans.

Don't know what all these chicks are sexwise. There is at least one frizzle.

Plus Frenchy is laying I think. 8 1/2. She's quite the girl. Her eggs aren't fertile as far as I know. Shells kind of thin but for over 8 I'm surprised she's alive much less laying.

Girlie is great, she is still on her eggs. How old is he and how much for him? Is he the same color as Girlie and MOJO?

If you can't jump it, improvise. Lol!

He's from a group that hatched in late March or early April. He's the same color as Girlie and Mojo but with less of a crest. I'm asking $25 for him on Craigslist, but PM me if you're interested and we can work out something. He's a good boy so far, but he was supposed to be a pullet and I already have too many cockerels.

I'm so glad Girlie is still on the eggs. She is definitely mama material.

I had to look again. At first I thought the rabbit just plowed through. I liked it better after I realized it moved the rail. Haha. I had a rabbit named Champagne that lived on my sun porch. He used a litter box and had wooden blocks (the kind kids used to build with before legos were popular) that he would rearrange around the room. He was a pretty great bunny. Now I want a bunny room in my barn.

I had to block her off from the rest of her group to keep the babies from going back to her. They pushed the eggs from under her one night. I felt bad but they got over it.

He's tiny compared to my girl..."Galaxy"...Yes that is a full sized laundry basket she is in. I was trying to weigh her. From what I can figure she is 16ish pounds at 8 months

As for Chicks...I could use to hatch some more. This year I have had a hard time with hatching. Trying to hatch others eggs this year to help increase the size of my flock. I have mostly smaller birds. The successful hatches I have had this year are mostly roosters. First hatch 5 chicks; 3 roo /2 hens, 2nd hatch; 6 chicks 4roo/2hens, 3rd I got the eggs from Tab 5 chicks still trying to decide, but it is looking like 3roo/2hens... I was hoping to add about 10 hens this year. Need to get some more eggs and start my next round soon.
