Nice you peeped up ...That would be weird with no chickens

It was really weird! I just couldn't stand it! And how I miss fresh eggs. I can't wait for chickenstock. I can't wait for spring so I can build more coops and fencing, now that I have a market for my eggs.

No electric since 4pm yesterday. Phone/internet just came back on. They have no info on electricity, just hundreds in our county and thousands in the state. And another foot of white stuff and wind :-D

So there is snow. More than I'd expected. Thank the Lord for my snowblower. Took me some time. I should have done some last night. Anyhow on my first pass I hit something. Ugh!

It jammed up the blower. It was a cage I'd set for the squirrels. The cage is ruined but the blower started right up after I'd pulled the mess out. Thank the Lord. I've have been in big doo doo if it hadn't. I do know a guy who will come to the house but that might have proved expensive.

So all is well. Warm inside, but have been out twice since just to keep on top of things. Hard to believe it will be all melted on Friday.

Don't know why I'm telling anyone this. What's your story for the first snow of the year?

Around 18hrs with no power, came back on around 10am.
We got around a foot today but it compacted. Calling for up to another foot tomorrow. ..
This afternoon I decided it was time to take the mower deck off the lawn tractor and put on the snowblower... :-D

Spent most of the day shoveling paths - memo to self - buy snow thrower this year! However, I was proud of myself b/c this is the first time I have been able to do this in 2 years. My neurosurgeon is officially my hero

I shoveled a path for them .Chickens didnt want to come out ...Maybe Tomorrow I will bribe them with bird seed
I was not ready for this so I had to tarp the coop to keep the snow out

Glad everyone is doing well with the snow! We got spared the snowy mess, but had a lot of ice to deal with. The chickens were not thrilled with any of it, of course!

What Tractor / Model do you have ? that has a snow blower too

most JD and a bunch of others. We have a Kubota and a cub cadet that both have snow blower attachment available. Right now all we have is the 4ft plow though. No complaints though, it saves hours of shoveling.

Who's bright idea was it to ask for this much snow? Seriously are yall bananas? I can't even get to the worms because I am too short to dig past all that snow!!! Human, you better give me good snacks today to make up for me living in NY.

Sorry that is how I think my flock feels. I opened the window and they all screamed at me like they wanted me dead. Luckily for them I always have treats on hand. They got raspberry oats with carrots. I use whole oats from the feed store, better for them.
