NY chicken lover!!!!

no preference...the elders just want to see them hatch out.
That's a great thing to do. My kids love watching it too. Then they think they have watch them 24/7. I could gather a variety of egg colors so they can all pick a favorite.

I'm smack on the VT border, about 45 minutes outside of Glens Falls. As I said, you'd have to either pick them up at Chickenstock or come get them from me, I can't deliver. I need to get my order in ASAP because the chicks I want are already sold out until May and could sell out entirely at any time.
I just mailed in the waterfowl order, sorry :( The roads are horrible and I was going out for something else so I stopped at the PO and mailed it, I didn't want to have to go out a second time. I ordered more Tufted Romans to add some outside genetics to my flock and some Welshies to fill out the order. I checked into muscovies for you and it looks like they only sell them as a group of 12 for $100 plus separate shipping so I don't think that would have worked.

The chick order is still open, I'll be mailing that separately.

If you do want some goslings though I can have Tufted Romans for Chickenstock :)

Sounds like you got a nice GFF variety! Will you be keeping and breeding any of them?
Here's the thread.

Don't worry about it. It wasn't meant to be. I will think about the romans. It's probably better if I wait until next year anyway.

I do plan on breeding the barnevelders. Uberchic ranch supposedly has unrelated lines so I will try to get chicks from them, not sure what they cost though.

I have Muscovys & I'm hoping they start laying sooner this year - trying to get them to stay inside the coop that has a light on a timer to trigger them to lay sooner. If that works, I should have either eggs or ducklings by Chickenstock.

What color Muscovy? I really should wait until next year. I'm already getting welshies.

Welcome ...

Any Questions feel free to ask ..
What did you order ?
Do you have a coop ready or will you be housing them for a couple of Months
We are going with EEs. I am sure I will have a ton of questions when they get here. Everyone on here has been so helpful this will be the first place I come

. We should be done within a week. We are going shopping this weekend for everything we need for a brooder until they can go out into the coop.

The drake is "blue"? & white - hens are 1 black & white pied (original from 2012 but laid eggs & incubated them last year), several brown/chocolate/white, one "mocha latte" with barred-like pattern, and two blue/light chocolate/white;
Duckling photos from last year:

And then the same ones "grown up"

Thank you! I am thinking about ordering them if I can find a place that is not going to kill me with shipping (which I haven't yet). I've heard awful stories about the chicks at TSC being handled by kids and unknowing adults. Plus I heard the employees really do not know why type of chicks they have. I'm completely new at this so I have no idea what I am doing lol
It does Vary what they get sent ..they should have some straight run and some pullets .
For the best selection call your local store to see when they come in
Sometimes the hatchery labels them Genericly - Like Reds - Not Comet or Rhode Island
You can pre order chicks .....in quantities of 25 or more
Each TSC varies - Some are great with the chicks and knowlegeable ..Others are not .
They are all required to watch a Video about chicks ..but not all apply it .
The Auburn TSC is Wonderful & Caring ...
The Manager even washes their butts when they get pasty butt ..And blue coats their Boo Boos.
Here is a Nice link to their Site with informational videos

@cutipatooti - it's totally up to you whether you get them this year or not, but
here's more photos anyways.
These are some of the parents, the drake being up front - he looks "brownish" here, but when he got new feathers was more light blue.
