NY chicken lover!!!!

Both Tennessee and Georgia have confirmed cases. I haven't found solid information about whether this affects our flyway. I don't order chicks, usually. The eggs I have ordered are from sources outside of those states.

Instead of wooden eggs in nest boxes I use golf balls.

And now Alabama and Kentucky. But some is Low Pathogenic. I follow on Facebook: WATTAgNet and US Avian Flu Updates And Information. There is also a website that has maps showing location and information of confirmed cases, I used that when we had the more local outbreaks.

Does that give the Georgia city? I want to look it up to see if it's in one of the eastern flyways.
Edited to add, I looked it up. Thanks for the references. So far I think the concentrated cases are west of the flyway that brings us wild fowl carriers.

Tao - thanks ! My older eggs develop - they can sit if well stored for 3 weeks so crossing fingers :)

I've had the same. She intended to use them so I'm hopeful she stored them well. I have a whole system planned to monitor each group of eggs. This is the first time I'll have such a diverse group to compare side by side. I'm up to 96+ eggs for the fridgerbator. I'm happy to increase my odds. Losses won't feel as devastating.

I'm rewiring and taping the incubator today. A couple wires were still loose yesterday. I scrubbed the hatching trays, found my chick tagging system (cable ties and twist ties), and have a good idea of where the temps and humidity will run in my incubator. :D

I found this at Wegmans ...Im going to see if it works as a Roost Scraper ..the end isnt as flat as I would like ..
But it solid Steel ..doesnt bend easy
If you haven't used it, you might try the dollar store for a wide puddy knife. What you have there is a cheese slicer. Also at the dollar store you might find some packages of gloves. I carry them in my pocket. Not the latex but a clear plastic gloves. Sometimes I need to pick poop out of a nest box.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to hook up to FB. I"m headed there next on my check of sites I go to.

I'm in Geneseo and could provide you with all you need.

What would the cost be for a dozen hatching eggs for our classroom? Would you be willing to take them back after a couple weeks of them hatching as well? Thank you for reaching out!

Should you have an extra rooster of any color I'd be glad to have him.  Will you be coming to chickenstock?

Yes I'm coming I'm hoping to keep the 5 I bought for breeding. I need to clear out some of the others I was going to use mottled and solid blue/black AMs now that I was able to acquire these!
