When Molting you should give them more protein ...either some chick food or game bird food ...Or you can add eggs , hamburg , yogurt , fish to their diet
 
Got the cockerels all loaded into a cage to leave this morning. 3 black ameraucana, 2 olive egger and the gold Spitz roo. Can't keep them all :( keeping the main AC mix roo, the silver Spitz and the Colombian Wyandotte cockerel.

Yes - sorry all - I've been so busy - and then took yesterday off to go pick up some chicks (of course) and then took the time to create a new email just for this darn site to work. If I missed any questions to me - or anything anyone wanted me to know - please restate ! I as NOT ignoring you !
 
So, Thursday afternoon was a little exciting round here..... tornadoes!

I was at work in Buffalo where we had just another hot, humid rainy day, which turned into black skies and torrential rain at lunchtime...

Meanwhile, south of the City, not far from our house - this happened!!! When I heard I had visions of our coop and chickens being swirled up into the sky, but relieved to hear from my husband who raced home to check on things no damage here, the tornado moved just South of us into Holland.

Amazingly no-one died, but there's lots of property damage. Clip from local news, about 6 mins long showing extensive damage at our local fairground, SUV being lifted up and moved by a gust of wind - scary stuff ......

Right now they've got all flock and feather fixer in the feeders. They are ridiculously picky eaters when it comes to their feed. I do scramble up eggs for them every now and then. I'm hoping they molt fast and get back to laying quickly. I feel like we had the slowest most last year.

I'll be facing a similar situation soon. I've got so many pretty cockerels, but I can't keep them all. It's going to be difficult to decide who is staying.

Oh my gosh, that's a lot of damage. You don't expect tornados in NY, they are possible of course but unexpected. I'm glad your coop was okay!
