NY chicken lover!!!!

i am in the middle of everyone.. right in central new.. would love to swap some chickens

Hi! I am just getting back to being active on here - moved to Mexico NY (North of Syracuse/E. of Oswego) right before the snow hit in Nov. What have you got, to swap or otherwise? I would love to meet like-minded chicken obsessed folks locally. By the way, how does one pm on here now?!?
Addendum: Oops, didn't mean to run over the meet & greet! But wildorchid053's mention of swapping birds made me think of a couple of questions:
How much is a reasonable/normal price to ask for chicks and/ or hatching eggs here in CNY?
I gathered that eggs for human consumption seem to go for about $3 in the SYR area via CL. But I haven't lived in this area long enough to get a feel for what the market is for hatchers or baby... or grown out chickens for that matter. I don't want to step on anyone's toes by undercutting local custom, and I don't want to over-charge and have potential buyers or trade partners turn away either.
Can one of you more experienced folks please advise?

Also: is there going to be a chickenstock? Or any TSC parking lot swaps, etc.where people in the Hen Zone can meet & greet?

Thanks. ~ Trish

View attachment 1311359 Hello!!!!!
New to BYC! I’m Shawna and I’m in Wappingers Falls about 90 min north of NYC and 15 min from Poughkeepsie. Looking forward to being a part of this informative group! I currently have New Hampshire’s, RI reds, barred rock, australorp, americauna and silkies. Actually looking to rehome 3-4 silkie Roos if anyone is interested?????

selling chicks get harder and harder. it seems like tractor supply sells chicks all spring and now into the fall and they are always on clearance for 25-50 cents each. that is hard to compete with. i sell chicks from $2-10 depending on what they are. it's hard from one year to the next to know what people are looking for.
there are swap info pages on facebook. i haven't found any listed on here but that doesn't mean that there isn't. if you find them on here please post a link.
Yes, there is a chickenstock page for this year. just type it in the search box.
Welcome!

Welcome Trish
eggs for humans about $3 or more ( depending on organic or the customer ) I sell mine for 3.50 or 2 for 6.00 - Hatching eggs $5- $10
Chicks can go for $2.00 - 5.00 depending on the breed .
I sell them after they are grown $15.00 usually unless they are rare breeds then more .
Heres a link . We normally only do a chicken stock once a year

HELLO!!! I don't sell my eggs, just give them away to friends. I breed silkies and showgirls. Eggs I sell for $60 a dozen and chicks are $15 each. Once they are sexed it goes up from there.

Welcome CatMom I am just a couple hours north of you in Harrisville. I am not sure about swaps but I know Adams (about 45 minutes north of you) has animal auctions in the summertime, dates are usually listed on craigslist.
