NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi everyone, we're new to the chicken raising gig - live between Utica and Cooperstown. We have started off with 12 - buffs, RI reds and black australorps. So far everyone is doing well. Some are 14 weeks and some are 12 and everyone gets along well. Eventually (probably not til next spring) I would like to add a leghorn, barred rock a delaware and a lavender orpington. Would love to find someone fairly local and would like to find chicks that are partially grown already.

Hi. I am actually in need of rehoming my pair of Delawares. I have a cockerel and a pullet. Dexter and Dolly. They were 14 weeks old this past Monday. Would you be interested? I'm in Apalachin NY but would be willing to travel to find them a good home.

I would have to talk to the hubby to be sure but I know he would only want the pullet - if you want to split them I can ask him.

No problem at all! I'll let you know if he says both are ok. :) I'm glad you asked regardless!

Well, if it helps sway him at all, Dexter is very nice. He eats out of my hand. Of course, that could change when he hits sexual maturity.

If it's the crowing that your hubby is opposed to, there really isn't much to do for that other than enjoy a rooster being a rooster! Thank you for at least trying to help me out!

I would take them if you delivered. Could give you gas money. I’m in Lake Pleasant, NY.

Thanks for the offer! I'll keep it in mind. But that is an all day trip and almost 400 miles round trip! I'm going to ask the woman who owns the farm where I used to keep my horse if she would like them first. She is only 3.5 miles away!

If all else fails, I’m about 2 hours from you and then an hour and a half from Kristal ( fishmtfarm). If you’d bring them here, i could bring them up to Kristal. We adore her and she has an amazing place for any animals!!

I guess I can wait to see how they do when they hit sexual maturity. They've been sparring since they were 3 weeks old and I only have 9 pullets and absolutely no room for more. I must admit, i have serious doubts of it working out.
I have read only one Rooster to a flock . but found that 2 get along fine ..usually one will be more dominant as they mature . they might fight one time to establish whos the head of the flock or some never fight ..as they already established who is the boss when they are younger
