Karin!
I know what you mean. Everybody asks us how the chickies are doing before they ask about the kids or grandkids. lol I know that you'll get a lot from this site and this thread. I like knowing that I can ask questions of people who are nearer to me and understand what I'm talking about.
The local weather said that we're going to get about 6"-8". Wait and see. Hubby says that he considers anything under 6" to be a "dusting". Gotta love him.

Did you have any other luck with the other eggs? Or were they done?

Looks like the weather is taking a turn for the worst right now. The wind is fun

I just candles my eggs last night and out of 21 eggs 15 look good! So hope we get some to hatch this time. If we dont I give up lol!

Are you hatching some of your own eggs? Let me know because I'd love to get a few BO and EE.

Also, let me know if you want any duck eggs/ducklings. Depending on how it goes in the spring we might be overun with ducklings lol.

Enjoy the rest of the snow day Joanne, looks like tomorrow maybe too. The kids are hoping lol. I think they will at least have a delay in the morning

No last count was 5 BCMs and 7 Silkies. I won an auction from Susan, (AHAPPYCHICK), so after work on Tuesday, I went to her house and picked up 6 chicks. 3 blue Ameraucanas, 2 BCMs and 1 blue maran, and 12 eggs half Amer. and half marans.
They went into the bator last night. Along with 6 green EE eggs and 6 buff orp eggs. Was yesterday day 3 of the hatch, ?

Well I have to go out in the blizzard and check on the critters outside. Make sure their water is not frozen etc, before it gets dark. I don't really want to go out there lol.

Hope everyone is making out ok with this storm!

Hi, Everybody!!!
So far this storm hasn't been too bad.....but it's not quite over yet. Only about 4 inches on the ground. I'd be happy ifr that's all we get......Omani, I agree with your husband......anything under 6" is merely a "dusting". I guess I'm an eternal optimist(smile).
Karin J, welcome to "NY Chicken Lovers"!!!! I can definitely relate to everything you're talking about......after all, I AM one of those people.......I love all my chickens, ducks, geese(and 2 Blue Slate turkeys) and go to great lengths to assure they're happy and healthy. I'd love to trade "chicken stories" with you!! I, too ,am fairly new at raising chickens........but since I first started last Spring, I came to find them totally endearing, interesting .....and totally "addictive"!!!! As far as ordering from hatcheries, I've always had a great experience in doing so. If you order only pullets, there is usually only a small error percentage. I've never ordered from a feed store.....but I imagine they order from the very same hatcheries that are available to the public.......with the very same percentage of errors. So you may as well go ahead and order from a hatchery you really like.........a much better selection of breeds/varieties!!! Or trade with/buy from your fellowBYC'ers(smile)!!!
To everyone who has eggs in the bator, I wish you the very best of luck....and an outcome of many "way too cute" fuzzy butts!!! I truly hope you'll keep us all informed!!!
Your Friend in Ellenville,
Kathy

Hi from Syracuse. Currently starting a poultry club in CNY. Perhaps you'd like to give Jon your e-mail and receive information of what goes on. [email protected]

You may want to stay up to date in case we decide to organize a group bus trip to museums involved in Poutry preservation, such as the Garfield in Chicago.
