Is the Bridgeport small animal auction still running ? Or when does it start again . Any other chicken auctions in the Watertown /Syracuse area going on ?

If you think you'll want to order chicks from hinkjc, here is her response to me for this arrangement. I am sending my down payment probably tomorrow so you may want to get yours in soon too. Seems to me the sooner she gets enough orders to start a hatch the sooner we may be able to get our chicks.

Here's your chance to get some nice orps and only have to order a few. As long as you will pick it up in syracuse that's a good deal. Free pick up? Make a connection with someone close to you and you all can get a few nice orps.

Check out her posting. Heck $5 a chick for some colors is a deal considering what I paid from a hatchery. $20 can get you four chicks and the odds that they would be all roos is slim IMO. Order blacks and lavs and make your own splits. From what I've read these are excellent layers.

OK - I am near Albany and looking for a Buff Orpington Roo & a Black Australorp Roo. They must be friendly as I have young children. We ordered through the mail last year-straight run-and got only pullets. Now, normally I would be thrilled but we did want to have some chicks this year and well, need a man to do the deed. Thanks a bunch!

I know I should probably post this on the turkey forum, but will give it a shot.

I lost my Bourbon Red Hen today......she didn't have any respiratory thing going on, no diarrhea, or anything else I could tell.

I think maybe the tom might have hurt her trying to breed her. I noticed she was unusually quiet last week, and my "oh oh" button rang, but I didn't look into it, and sure enough, yesterday I decided to put her in a pen away from the Tom, and felt she had lost weight...I guess a day too late...

Anyway, I'm not looking for a replacement, a poult or an adult red bourbon.

ps I could trade if necessary for Marans, Ameraucanas or Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, or for Naragansette eggs in the spring. Although, I'm incubating the Narris eggs, and they are developing, so might be sooner than spring.

I wondered how many members of the NY forum would be interested in joining the Fingerlakes Feather Poultry Club?

Although, it suggests that the club is based in the Fingerlakes, The meeting are held in Verona, right off Rt. 365.

We hold 2 shows a year. One is always on the 1st sunday in June at the Syracuse Fairgrounds in the Poultry Building, and the other, is held in conjunction with 4 other poultry clubs in NY and one in Connecticutt (sp?) in October, also at the fairgrounds.

We only meet 3 times a year, so its not a big committment, and actually, most don't come to the meetings....

We have special monetary prizes for winners who are club members, so its worth that if you show your birds.

If you are interested let me know, and I will let you know when the next meeting is. I think it is in January, and am trying to find out for sure.
