thanks. How do I know what size to get and when can I band with aluminum w/numbers?

I believe there is a chart on one of the pages...4 is small and goes up from there...I don't know the bands with numbers..I used the colored spring ones and go from there. Good luck. I am sure someone else will know.

So, which would I start with for large fowl chicks, and how many sizes (and which) until I can put the aluminum bands? Thanks guys, I appreciate all advice. This is my first year hatching.

Turned the incubator on last night to warm up and even out. Going to set the eggs tonight.

Anyone have a spare Call drake for sale? (I sure could use a pair or trio actually...) My male has apparently decided he is a girl (or a REALLY loud male!)

I'm also looking for some Lav Ameraucanas (Because apparently I cannot make Lav from Splits. Sigh. ) Chicks, eggs, adults?

I'm on the fence if I want to replace my Silkies or not, my extra white Roo gave up last week, laid down and froze to the ground.

I have Silver Fox or Rex rabbits (Breeding age even!) to trade if anyone is interested (email me, I always forget to log in to check PM's)

I keep telling myself that winter is almost over, but the way my winter has gone, I dunno if I am gonna make it to March! :O

The good news is the Ameraucanas and the Cayugas and Buff ducks were apparently hardy enough and smart enough to survive NY winter and predators. I now know why all those old timers sell down to nothing over the winter!

Oh, you have Call eggs? I'm in Bloomfield (14469) how far are you from where I am? ;p If it wasn't so blasted cold I could have you ship them. Think they would freeze in the mail?

The only Silkies I have left is one white Quad.

They have to stay here and hatch out "something" to pay the bills this spring, LOL I saved all kinds of stuff this fall, I think I had 14 or 16 Silkies before I left for the ARBA rabbit Convention, I lost like six of those before I even got home to a Hawk. Moved them to the "safer" coop. Hawk figured out where I put them and I Lost two more. Then they started dropping dead because it was too cold back there.

Moved the rest up front (I had put 4 in a rabbit cage when I got home and saw the Silkie Carnage that was my yard.

) Had one hen that would not stay in the garage. It got out and froze. New Hawk picked off another one and one of the Call hens, then decided that my Cayuga Drake looked tasty. He apparently had an issue with being on the menu, because that was the last I saw of that Hawk, I think he fatally injured it. So I was down to one extra Silkie (of course a Roo) and I tried to put him in with the others, and yeah, not so much. He just gave up last week.

I didn't have issues last year with my Silkies, but I think it was warmer. I swapped all those out for "better" show Silkies and apparently I tossed out all my vitality too! Some days ya just can;t win! ;p Did the same thing with my Cochins, traded out what I had for "better" stock and they didn't lay, didn't breed, and my show Roo wouldn't roost and froze to death. I kicked myself every day for selling my Splash Roo because I had a "better" one.

We could always swap chicks in the spring, assuming that mine lay anything and I can hatch something. ;p

I ordered a ton of ducks from Holdereads, since apparently waterfowl do much better than chickens do.

i dont think its that far. give me a min. i think 2 hours. i have calls due to hatch. i already pulled unfertile eggs and blood rings i have 10 good eggs on day 15. and 12 more good ones on day 8.
but i have eggs too. butterscotch and blue fawn. in one breeding pen. this last ones i had 14/15 fertile. your buff ducks laying?
