NY chicken lover!!!!

Sounds stressful. Sorry about your birds.

Hope your horse will be fine. I have a split lav and porcelain project silkie I'm not sure if I am keeping or breeding...the girl should be laying soon...she's almost 7 months for Pete's sake!

Sue --- So sorry about your animal woes! What an awful couple of days!

Meagan -- Silkies take approximately FOREVER to start laying! LOL! Really, some of mine almost 10 months.
Now I'm gonna be a pain in the butt ---> Is the porcelain actually porcelain? Is your split lav a product of split x split?

I have hatched a few lots of guineas - they are same as chickens, but supposedly take 28 days. They never ever take that long, so lock them down early or they will hatch in the turner! See the incubation threads and you'll notice they often come out day 24-25.

Thanks I will check there!

Sorry about your chickies and horse!

That really does make for a couple of rotten days. Horses with colic can be so touch and go and need such a great amount of tender care! How old is your horse? Sending you some energy and hugs for both you and the horse!

Muggs you KNOW I want a couple of those ducks but I must control myself, however if we get to meet up to do the chicken thing just let me know what day and what time to meet! We have an Showing for the house on Friday am so I am afraid it wouldn't be until the afternoon if we did it that day otherwise Thursday should be fine - tomorrow having an MRI on my shoulder - got a LOVELY shot of cortisone in it this afternoon. Things are a little screwy in the shoulder she thinks, she was moving it all around and feeling things.....one time she was lifting it and moving it and both sides of the shoulder POPPED REALLY LOUD! She had her hand on it and she apologized profusely and said that she wouldn't be doing THAT anymore. I have to have the enclosed MRI for a better picture and I am very very very very claustrophic

did I mention I was claustrophobic???

She gave me a script for one valium before I get in the machine - I hope one is enough!

Renee: Any numbers for me or info yet? Just let me know - thanks again!

I may have some Silkies in a couple of weeks - not sure what colors they will yet since they are in the incubator but you may be able to pry one or two away from me for your grand daughter. The go into lockdown around the 27th - cute little things.

Happy evening all. BTW, I was super bad today and fed my other obsession - gardening. Lowes here in Amsterdam had a bunch of their bulbs in pots 50 percent off. I also bought some hardier perennials and plants to go in my front flower bed and the decorative pots I have to help "stage" the house.

Man, I hope it doesn't snow that day!

Bridget ----
I mailed 16 Orp eggs & 16 silkie eggs to you monday, so you should have them tomorrow! Boy! Was that box heavy!!!
The tracking number should have been automatically emailed to you, but you can get it in your paypal acct.

This damp, cold weather is making my bones ache.... I'm pretty sure I'm not old enough for that!

Getting my NPIP recertification done tomorrow. Woo-hoo! I'm going with the easy breeds first, I think. It's a pain in the butt, but at least Noah will be home to help me wrangle chickens.

WHOOOOO HHHHOOOO!!!!

Any color ideas on these? Thank you! I will look up the number - nothing from paypal but will definitely give it a look.

Good Luck tomorrow and I'm glad you'll have some help around. I'm sure everything will go swimmingly tomorrow. I tell you age doesn't matter - I have a feeling when we were all young we thought we could do anything and now that we're a "bit"

older we are all feeling it!

I'll have to do some orpington research as I don't have a lot of info on them at this point - what fun! I love to do those things - maybe it will give me something to think about while I'm in that round toilet tube with magnets where you can't move around, okay heart beat picking up - gonna stop, gotta think "chickens, cute chickens, cute cute orpies, cute silkies" No need for tinfoil in that thing tomorrow all

Tigrlily: I hope you noticed the posted pics of the Ameraucana chicks I got from you. Good luck on your NPIP.

Fyrekitten: oooohhh.

your shoulder sounds painful. I had the closed MRI once. I am also afraid of enclosed spaces. Just had to think about something else till it was done. Sometime courage is not so much overcoming your fear, but doing what you have to do anyway. Here's sending you lots of thoughts of open spaces!

Ok all you Silkie people out there. Do you know that you have infected farmville on facebook.????
barnie.gif

I was on my English farm and got a special egg from my virtual chicken. When the egg hatched, it was a white Silkie!

*sigh* Maybe I should write to the Farmville creators and inform them about tinfoil hats....

Happy Country Hens

Cripes...I can't keep this week straight! Thursday could work. Two of the 5 girls I've kept are little "it's Pat"...gender confused. Bah!
barnie.gif
Yes, I can bring you a duck or two...there is always a little box around the house I can find to put them into if there are any left by Thursday!
wink.png
Later in the day would be better...I've got a sleepover at my house the night before, so need to leave enough time to take kids home and such in the morning.

Sorry about the MRI you need to have done. I also am claustrophobic. Best of luck to you and may the valium kick your butt to relax!

I hate MRIs! They need to give me valium just to get me to stay in the darned thing without flipping out! I'm a research nut myself. Been reading all about Peafowl lately.

The NPIP thing is really no biggie, just some chickens are easier to handle than others. I have a better chance of meeting Moses walking down my street than catching Gandalf by myself. Dude will fly right up to the rafters & taunt me...lol. Fortunately, I only have to do 30 chickens...

The Orps will all carry the lavender gene. Some will be lavender, some black split to lav, some lav mottled & some split mottled. Fertility is almost too good! Most of them are marked L for lav & S for split.
The silkies will be marked B for Blue, Black, Splash or W for White. A few may be mixed since 2 girls from the BBS pen were in with the Whites. They've been back in their own coop for 2 weeks, but who knows? If you send me pics, I can help you sort out the odd ones.
