I have a hoop house for the rabbits (well, its a half hoop house, its attached at the top to my garage) You're welcome to come see how its put together. Hindsight being I wish I had put up a wood structure instead... But its been up for over four years, the tarps need to be replaced almost yearly and they let in too much light so my black rabbits turn brown (Not so great for show bunnies!) We used PVC pipe and its held up fine, I know some people used rebar or stuff like that, but we didn't have one of those bendy thingys, lol

If my hubby would build me a barn I would use it for brooding chickens I think.

Mine also runs the deer out of the yard, LOL

I have a "special needs" Runner duck (I think its a girl) that needs a home, anyone want her? She's very sweet but I think she needs a vitamin regime to correct her head tilt and she's not doing as well in the pen with all the other
ducks.

She was doing well in the house, but my hubby vetoed the whole "House Duck with diapers idea" She follows me around like a little puppy dog. Seems healthy and active and very friendly, she just eats and drinks a little funny and occasionally walks in circles.

I also have two week old Khaki Campells and Saxonys from Holderreads (or they may be white Appleyards, I can't tell yet) available, 6.00 each, I'm going to ship them to the Bath auction this weekend, I need the space! I was going to save the Saxonys (or Appleyards, sigh) for meat, but I think there are too many ducks in that brooder, I need to thin it out I think?

Funny how 90 ducks doesn't sound like that many until they are here, eating, drinking and making a big stinky mess! I thought for sure I would have killed some of them, but nope, they're super hardy little duckies to survive me!

Poor Tab! Heres something to hang on to: One day you will come home to find that your girls have cleaned the house, made dinner, taken care of the animals, done the laundry, mowed the lawn and baked you something nice. Its times like those that will make all these things dissappear. Your day will come.

Hello ALL!

Just a beginner here in Northern Utah. I purchased 8 RIR pullets at about 2 days old and now that they are about 7 weeks old I believe I have at least one roo. We are building a chicken 'room' in our exsisting barn rather then building a whole new coop. We decided this for several reasons: 1- even though we have an acre of land my back yard is already small and the horses pasture space is the bulk of our property. 2- I didn't want to have to worry about building codes adding a new building because it would've either been really close to the barn or really close to the house and I didn't want either. 3- less building materials = less cost. 4- more secure then anything we would've been able to build from scratch. 5- all the feed will have it's own space in the exsisting tack room so no need to worry about storage.

Any way, new to the forum... trying to get enough posts on here that I can personalize my profile.

Have a great day!!

They are my little helpers when they're not getting into things. I'm sure they'll be great when they're older. I just don't want to picture them grown up yet. I'm not ready yet.

You think chicks grow up fast? Wait til you turn around three times and find yourself planning what colleges to visit or a wedding with your baby. Enjoy them while they are little cuz they won't be little forever....they will be grown up forever however....let them stay young as long as you can.

I have Speckled Sussexes. You need eggs or chicks?

The woman that has the farm by the elementary school is right outside the village line. I have to go through the Minoa Village offices. I was told by the mayor that as long as I fill out the paperwork and pay the extremely high application fee I will be able to keep them. I just think that it is funny that after having them for over a year and have all of our neighbors signatures they are still making me jump through hoops. It would be one thing if we had no land but we have almost 2 acres.

In other news LOL... I am still on the hunt for some fertile eggs. I have a new broody and would like to hatch a few babies.
