I got a stack of papers on the NYS fair poultry exhibition entries in the mail today. Trylin are we getting npip certified or what? I suppose if it's done on a dry day I won't be to embrassed by the mud!

Rancher - when we did the last testing, she took a quick look around & looked at my brooders. Other than that, she did the testing in our hot tub house. That way any escapees were easy(ish) to catch.

I didn't know you planned on showing!

So I have to build a hot tub house to be tested? Well that's not happening. I figured I'd just keep a gun handy and shot escapees and not have to test them.

Seriously? I wasn't and may not, but Trylin wants to so we have to. Lord knows I don't have the time, buuuttttt. I have these brown leghorn rosecomb bantams that no one wants and they have to earn their keep somehow. Plus from what I've seen of Dels? It's not that expensive though I am afraid of cooties and bugs.

Reading the PP mag. shows are a good place to pick up problems. Those and auctions. Buuuuuttttt. I'd like to know how good my Dels are though.

Of course that means a separate place to quarantine show birds before and after.

Then too, that means more building and all that crap. Oh and cleaning crap, but I've got Jesse doing that for me right now. Mucking out the runs. What a stinky job.

I've got these silkies to you know. Can you believe I passed up free eggs from Alabama?

Hi Tim,

When I go to a show, I bring with me Oxine and Denagard. The Oxine to disinfect the cages, and spray on the birds once a day, If I go every day, and the Denagard to put in their water as a preventative.

I continur to give the denagard when we get home for a few days.

Sue

Since I started doing that, I have not brought home any diseases.

trylin- how are those goose eggs doing?

Tim...YES! and YES to the showing....!!

Well, I've candled and I've got a heart and veins in the one for sure...the other two its hard to tell cuz of the dirt! LOL Then the fourth....not sure...I am not the best at candling. The air sacs look fantastic though! They got put in a week and a half later than I wanted...miscalculated big time. So if nothing happens, totally my fault!!! Thanks for asking....I know where to go for more eggs though.....LOL!
