There are a few more Dorking hatches due by the end of May & he just put his quad back together, so there will be more.

Annie,
What kind of chanteclers and where did you order them? Last year I was considering them, but got buckeyes instead.
Ginny

I actually orderd the Partridge Chanteclers from Welp over the weekend of 5/14 because their site DID NOT say they were out, just short on supply. Then I was worried that there were going to charge me now and I wouldn't get the chicks till who knows when so I called them on Monday the 9th. The rep said she would check into when they would be available and call me back. About an hour later she called and said they would be ready to ship on Wed 5/18 shipping out of New Mexico (Privett Hatchery?). I got them this morning, 1 was injured and had to be culled.

It looked like it had been squished by something. Missing a toe on one foot, cut off, and a hip was out of joint and it could not stand. Otherwise the rest are great.

I'll keep you updated as they grow.

Please do. The breeder I got my buckeyes from should be breeding Partridge chanteclers this year. I would have gotten them from him and kept it local! I do love my buckeyes though. They are really nice birds

It's 6:35 and the world is still revolving.

Darn good thing cuz I have the cutiest and I mean CUTEST chickies today. The teenage Marans and OE's are ok. One is a roo (on purpose)...that's OK too....but omg, OMG the little Amerucanas ....I think I am in love. They are sooooo tiny. And cute. And fuzzy. and LOUD. LOL

I think they are unhappy after their trip. I gotta go check. Someone lend me a camera. you have GOT to see these cuties.

My broody was leading her babies around the lawn today. Never had a broody before - they are hilarious! And my little EE/Cochin chicks are always adorable with their little poof cheeks. I like how the broody poofs out like a turkey to scare people/birds off.

Oh and my DH ran electricity to that run-in coop we are making. Awesome! I can move my very stinky almost eight week olds out of the barn soon. Will have roos on offer soon if anyone is interested including a really pretty grey cochin/EE mix. Although I may keep him. We shall see. His daddy is a great roo!

I have baby duckies! Not mine, but hatched for a friend. When the hatch is done he is coming over to take them directly from the bator. I am not keeping any. That's because they are fawn Runners and I want Mandarins.

where did you get them?

Got them from susan down state. She got them from a friend/breeder in CA, I *think*....I was so overwhelmed with their cuteness I didn't really ask any questions.

They are soooo cute. I have NEVER seen anything so cute in my life and I gave birth 3 times. LOL They fit in one hand with space to spare. And when they fall asleep they just do it. One is asleep with it's beak in the food right now.

Congrats on the hatch. When are you getting *your* ducks?

I want geese. Just 3 of them. But I can't get ray to build another house. He's to busy building BROODERS. LOL

I have a friend that has year old Wood ducks but they are flighty and not able to be held. I like the look of the Mandarins better anyway. If I can find the time to build a proper Mandarin set-up then I will try to get some. I have WAAAAAYYYYYY too many chickens now though. All the adults (40 or so), 24 - 1 month old Pendesencas and D'Uccles, 25 - 2 day old Chanteclers, some A & M Quail in the bator due next week and 3 people wanting chicks from me ASAP. Oh, and the chicks that hatched in Kindergarten at school this week (15?).
